Oh , yeah , we will be sucking down some oysters too .
Actually the celebration had a lot to do with centuries old harvest festivals with just the spin from the American history added.It didn’t feed back mostly because there already were parallel celebrations already. We just tend to make a bigger deal of a harvest fest than some.
Thanksgiving will never be the same ...About 20 years ago my brother came into town just to cook me a turkey ..Mom and dad were out of town I think he might have been a college student ...anyway.... He made a bird and stuffed it with my moms special stuffing , tossed it in the oven ..and we went off to the bar while the bird cooked .
Later we returned and upon entering the house it was clear something was just not right ..
Moms receipe called for 2 teaspoons of thyme ...NOT 2 CUPS
The turkey ...and whole house smelled like baked grass .
He recalled later how strange it seemed that he had to buy multiple jars of spices to get to 2 cups .....
Turkey time !
Wow, I bet that requires a whole lot of ZigZags.
Been a looong time since I twisted up a ZigZag .
But the whole turkey smoking process seems to go a little smoother with a few beers .
