A typical flashlight parabolic reflector produces “out of focus” (or at least non-image focus) view of the die. Zoom to throw aspherics for the most part seem pretty smooth to me.
Hi guys. Got my UniqueFire UF-T20 yesterday, my first focusing light and my third LED light. It seems to work good. The flood setting is nice and big with no hot spot in the middle. The throw setting is strange, I see an image of the LED, square but bright. Very interesting. I did a quick check last night comparing it against my CREE LED XM-L T6 1200LM which I bought from Tmart last week. The T20 on throw was brighter. On flood the T20 was slightly smaller circle and dimmer. Of course both were swamped by my J18!!!

Yeah, that’s always a shock for most the first time they see the emitter blown up like that. I thought mine was broken when I got my first zooomer. I rushed to meritline to complain but quickly found that it was supposed to be that way. heh heh oops.
The T20 is a nifty zoomer. I wish I didn’t have to twist it to zoom, but I’ll live. 
The best zoomer of all time is the small sun zy-c10-s. That thing throws forever.
I also really like the keygos M12 …. My cat got out the other night and he’s a 1000 years old and gets lost on his own outside, so I grabbed the closest light (which happened to be the m12) and went to look for him.
At first I was kinda bummed because I thought a fixed focus would work better in the great senile cat hunt, but boy was I pleasantly surprised. I could use the zoomed out spot to look under cars at a much farther disatnce than I ever could have with a fixed, because the spill in the fixed would burn out the car so I couldn’t actually see under it — if that makes sense. As a result, I have been impressed all over again by the m12. Strangely, it seems brighter than the keygos m10. (I’m expecting some emitters and drivers and will replace the driver and emitter in the m10; it’s great light. Just needs to be brighter.)
And, yes, I did find old edgar the cat — like a 1/2 mile from home — heading for the park to set up a homeless cat camp or something. Then I had to carry him back the 1/2 mile squirming and trying to bite me. He has really bad arthritis in his rear haunches, so he doesn’t like to be picked up. Oh the things we go through for our stupid pets. Certainly wasn’t a big game hunt or rescuing someone froma burning building, but the m12 sure came in handy and worked great.
Other zoomers of note are the sipik sk98 clones (made by ultrafire) and a TINY sipik sk73. It burned up about a month ago, and I finally got around to putting in a u2 and a nice driver. Now the thing kicks butt. Like it so much that it has taken the place of my 2011 for a bit as an EDC. The sk98 clone also has been an edc for me at times. Certainly not in the league of a brightness king like a ke-5, the sk98 clone is still plenty bright and comes in handy for me because of its versatility…
Pok, what you need to do is make another 66mm thrower but use the new MT-G2 emitter. A little birdie tells me 3000 lumens in a FTT is not out of the question.
Ubehebe, good story. We have 5 cats, all black, all indoor cats. They have escaped once or twice but thank God during the day.
So far I notice the T20 gets alot warmer than the other lights. Not too warm, however. What is cool is I am uisng batteries I salvaged from a Lenovo laptop. Got six really good, 4.1 v Sanyos out of it which power this new light nice.

Not so with Led Lenser flood to throw lights. They’re overpriced, use outdated emitters, are often poorly driven and typically have ringy beams, but they shine when it comes to output in throw mode. The T7 is a valued member of my collection.
