Zebralight SC52 1aa/14500 awesomeness

Same here.

Ahhh great, I see above you have a D25A Clicky in NW (2012, XML I presume?), me too. Perhaps you can help me determine if my SC52 is defective - I think all my L modes are out of wack.

How you would compare (as a percentage) the SC52s 0.34 L2 and 2.7 L1 modes to the two D25A lowest modes - Grp1 moonlight, and Grp2 low?

And, just curious, is this comparison by the naked eye?

This will be my 3rd Zebralight. I have the H501 and H600F Headlamps. Excellent quality! I'm very excited about this new model!

Congrats scaru on your win! Can't wait to get mine. I'm sure it will be living in my pocket as well :)

Love my SC52. The range of modes is fantastic. The ability to press the switch a little longer and start it dim is very handy, or press quick for bright. If you have other Zebra Lights you are already familiar with the UI, quick learning curve! I have one 14500 and
this sucker is bright. One of my favorite lights.

Just ordered mine.

A debate carried over from HERE to avoid further hijacking.

No statement, obviously… just a comparisons of manufacturer specs.

QAA2X - 280 lms/0.8 hrs
SC52 - 280/0.9

QAA2X - 115/2.5 (288 lm-hrs)
SC52 - 108/3.0 (324 lm-hrs)

QAA2X - 24/20
SC52 - 25/12 (this is the single concession)

QAA2X - 2.7/72
SC52 - 2.7/96

QAA2X - 0.30/15 days
SC52 –0.34/21 days

Sorry, I wasn’t referring to you missing one mode… I was referring to the confusion we went back and forth on with regard to what you believed that moonlight was “stepping down?” This is basic ZL operation across all their lights.

So this little feller gets to 500 lumen, but only off a 14500 cell and only for 60 seconds? Either way, that’s damn impressive even if it steps down to 280 lumen…

Note that the 47’s numbers are pretty conservative given selfbuilt’s review showing ~400L OTF on high.

Ohhhh I see, I haven’t looked at Quark specs since the R5 bin

Moonlight: 0.2 lumens for 30 days (1ma)
Low: 4 lumens for 5 days (10ma)
Medium: 22 lumens for 24 hours (50ma)
High: 85 lumens for 5 hours (250ma)
Max: 206 lumens for 1.3 hours (700ma)
Strobe: 206 lumens for 2.5 hours
Beacon: 0-206 lumens pulse for 18 hours

That’s what I thought you were comparing the sc52 with

Sorry for my eagerness / impatience, but I’m keen to buy one of these ASAP, what’s the best ammo (cells) for them?

Look at how the high modes all read 1 hour on both AA and aa2 modes here
http://www.foursevens.com/products/flashlights/Tactical
On both xpg2 and XML models
Yet in our decrepit Canada 4sevens.ca still has old specs for the original AA xpg (similar drive current and driver)
http://www.4sevens.ca/product_info.php?cPath=303_374&products_id=2118
Moonlight: 0.2 lumens for 30 days (1ma)
Low: 4 lumens for 5 days (10ma)
Medium: 22 lumens for 24 hours (50ma)
High: 85 lumens for 5 hours (250ma)
Max: 206 lumens for 1.3 hours (700ma)
Strobe: 206 lumens for 2.5 hours
Beacon: 0-206 lumens pulse for 18 hours
Operation

On the same site the XML 2aa looks better on the .ca site than the above link from the new site. But now 1.6 hours on high here;
http://www.4sevens.ca/product_info.php?cPath=303_430&products_id=2734

Moonlight: 0.3 OTF lumens for 15 days
Low: 2.7 OTF lumens for 3 days
Medium: 24 OTF lumens for 20 hours
High: 115 OTF lumens for 2.5 hours
Max: 280 OTF lumens for 0.8 hours
Strobe: 280 OTF lumens for 1.6 hours
SOS: 280 OTF lumens for 3 hours
Beacon: 0-280 OTF lumens pulse for 8 hours
Operation

So I think either Quark got sloppy with there data entry and used there AA figures for there aa2 lights or there runtimes have gone to crap (Foursevens.com)

I would buy Nitecore 14500’s for Fasttech, or get energizer Lr91 lithiums for a good balance of runtime and output for the Sc52

the pricing doesn’t seem too budget… Zzz…

They come in sexy black as well:

Now…time to try and find who sells them the cheapest…500lm (even if it’s for only 60 seconds) has got me stunned.

Sometimes you don’t need 500 lumens for just a few moments really. So 1 minute on 500l is quite impressive for just a tiny AA light.

I just got word from Craig at Illumination Supply that his shipment of SC52's should be in tomorrow. Can't wait to get mine!

Good news, thanks!

And I got a note from GoingGear that they’re shipping mine. I just missed the first batch.
