Hi Guys (and Gals) —
Sofirn sent me an email asking me to do a review of their SP32. I received it a few days ago. So here ’tiz…
This is a “tubelight” (very comfortable to carry in the pocket) or with a clip if wanting to clip on belt. Also included was a very nicely made 2800 mAH 18650 batt (didn’t specify if protected.) Doesn’t matter to me because If only had 1 incident with li-ion and it was in a home security monitor , not a flashlight. The LED is very well aligned to the reflector (see pic) Also, it has pleasing “soft” mode changes adding a certain elegance to the light. The button top on the battery appears to have a protective layer so might want to make a mental note to gently scrape this off before installing.
I was amazed when I took it out on a dark night where I live way out in the sticks along with my SRK and it actually gave it a run for the money on turbo mode. Turbo mode wont stay on too long though because it does get hot and automatically downshifts to the next level. It has 4 modes. I really like the neutral white color. Despite being a “skinny” light, it tail-stands very well.
This is my new favorite light because of run-time, firely setting, the wall of light that it puts out, and the side button. I found the strobe mode alarming (they call it SOS mode) but it doesn’t do 3 dots and dashes but rather an apparent alpha brainwave synchronized flashing which slows to a confusing slower strobe every 1.5 seconds or so. Could be very disorienting to an assailant. The springs appear gold plated and the glass has a very solid sound when tapped (it doesn’t sound thin or cheap). Thanks Sofirn. And thank you BLF’ers for reading my review.
