Iāve just spent the last 1/2 hour on my build with an angle grinderā¦. not much precision there either :cowboy_hat_face:
Good to see another entrant. Thereās still two months to go, plenty of time to get a build going!

Do it! You never fail to impress. :+1:
Best wishes to everyone who is working on an entry!
Iām going to try and get one entered this year. Even though Iām not planning on using a mill or lathe, or any precision cutting machines, I think Iām going to end up in the machine made category.
Thanks for joining in the fun. It matters little what you use to build your light. Its just good to challenge yourself with whatever you have and we all enjoy watching the processes we go through.
Iāll give it a shot this year too.
No ideas yet thoughā¦
Good to see you in the mix again, Jerommel :+1:
Iām seriously winging it this time - Iāve spent more time failing on a particular part, itās not funnyā¦& I have to spend more time posting up the string of failureā¦ :person_facepalming:
Just in case anyone missed the link added in the first post, I am in and my build link is located here.
Is it possible to enter the OptoFire build I finished a few months ago into the hand made category?
[image] Introduction A lot was learned during the build process of the original LightCanon, and since then a few new discoveries have been made and technology has progressed further. This second version of the LightCanon will bring improvement to intensity with better cooling, a better LED, and a better lens. The flashlight body will also be redesigned for a cleaner look. Based on some rough initial calculations, this new light should be able to achieve at least 2M candela, and possibly reaā¦
Or does the flashlight need to be specifically built from the start for the competition?
You need to start building after the competition starts, not a previously made light.

Oooh I see, I thought it started after the previous one ended so you had a year to build.
Never mind then

Donāt give up so easily. You can still enter and build something new. We have excellent sportsmanship in this ācontestā. We help each other if needed. Donāt be afraid to ask for help, or even for spare parts. Several of us have plenty of those too. :person_facepalming:

Not in two months time I still need to finalize my 3d design and budget.
Also I need to check if my design is patent-able and possibly hire a patent attorney to check that it hasnāt been created already.
Once it is patent pending (or I find out it canāt be patented) then I will be able to make forum posts about it
So maybe for next yearās competition it will be readyā¦
Does my homemade BLF GT prototype count? It was, after all, the first functional prototypeā¦
Multifunctional, I like it
Is that what they call a ātoilet plungerā light? :person_facepalming:
Question:. In the hand made class would it be okay to use a woodworking router to round wood edges or maybe cut a groove??
Thank you.
In my book it would be ok but Iām not a judge or the head honcho running the show.
Iām working on other (house) stuff for a couple of days and weāll see what shakes out.

Approved. Go ahead.
