What I see is a light that requires a new clip. I want it setup for deep pocket carry. I could care less whether or not it has the 45 edges or sharp 90 edges. I’m not even so sure I really want this light anymore. I’m at the point in my flashoholism where I don’t want lights that don’t suit a practical purpose in some way.
This body size and clip style is popular enough that somebody probably makes a loopover clip that will fit if you want it to carry deeper. Personally, I don’t love really deep carry; half the point of a clip is so that I don’t have to reach deep into my pocket and fish it out.
I have not checked this thread for a long time, too busy with modding S2+’es, and playing with my Q8 and reading about the GT
Now it seems the whole idea of beauty of craftsmanship is just thrown away, it is tapered and beadblasted and glued together?
I liked the original design very much
Since i still dont have an Emisar D4, i think i have to buy one, why would the FW3A be better? It seems they all gave in and made compromises at every part besides the firmware from TK, which is (as always) great.
Better? Maybe not. Different and totally unique? Heck yes.
As an aside. I really want to know how a tapered tube is viewed as such a downgrade to this light by some. Yes, the prototype was a parallel/square design, but what is special about that otherwise?
The blasted finish though I can see takes away from the raw look.
Why is the FW3A better? Slightly smaller, lighter, nicer clip, metal tail switch, higher regulated modes, cheaper (probably), much fancier firmware.
Why is the D4 better? Sturdier, more emitter/optic/host choices, rubber side switch, higher turbo modes, available today, also comes in throwy D1/D1S flavors.
