Good deal…… looks like I was wrong about them both coming at once. :person_facepalming:
Oh well…
Glad your getting them.
….
On another note. Are you going to take your bezel off to do your ‘LED burn in’ OR just split the head, exposing the LED
I was eyeballing the area in front of the switch. I noticed a little o-ring grease and thought about taking it apart there. Honestly, I think taking it apart there is a better approach, and leave the reflector alone.
While I was at it, the carry strap attach point on this one is sitting at about 11:10 . So while I had it apart I could maybe align it a bit better. The connections don't need to be so dang tight anyway.
Time for me to get outta here. I been awake for 22.5 hours!!
Yeah… I’m thinking that will be the better option. That way the reflector, lens, & bezel can remain intact as a unit.
If you figure out how to change the alignment of the front strap attachment point, do let me know. I do not see anyway at all to do it.
Mine is at 6:30……. :person_facepalming: …
I like the idea of the approach you intend to take. The reflector and lens will be more protected from dust, etc. I just tried to unscrew the top part of the head off, but couldn't get it to budge. I used a strap wrench for the big section and my hand for the finned section. I'm going to put some oil on the joint and give it some time to work it's way to the oring. Hopefully that and another strap wrench on the finned section will break it loose.
Its definitely on there real tight, couldn’t unscrew it either. Had to put it in the vise and used 2 hands. Probably the oring that’s a little on the big side.
Yeah I think this way is best.
If you have a vice you can remove the battery tube & put the flats where the switch & tripod mount in the vice (pad jaws) and unscrew the top portion by hand.
Works well…. just be sure to pad jaws. This is what thijsco19 was referring to also. … :+1:
Every time I read that you have received the Giggles without them sending you the tracking info I worry more and more
I hope to receive the tracking code before the Giggles arrives in my country with enough time to make the correct customs declaration, otherwise I will have many problems
I see big bureaucratic problems on the horizon $$$$$$$, it’s really worrying
We have not heard from Neal in several days. I am guessing that having a new wife have not allowed him spare time to deal with the GT for the last week.
Hopefully he will be back on track for the lights going to other countries.
Plus for the USA it really doesn’t matter for 98% of US buyers if they have the tracking number besides trying to be home for the signature but they will come back if no one is home.
You can call them once a day and they can check for any shipping labels created going to your address. It is a little extra work, but maybe this will ease your mind.
Since no one reported any new tracking notices, I guess Neal was not able to ship out that 3rd order at the end of last week. Maybe it will be this week.
At this time I am in no hurry for shipping
It is shipped, when it is shipped
My only concern is to know the tracking code with enough time to correctly make the customs declaration
The tracking is essential to present the customs declaration
Ha!, wish I had read your or thijsco19's above post before tackling it the second time. A vice would have been very helpful. I got it apart after many full force attempts with 2 strap wretches. My wretches have short handles, so they didn't give me much leverage. I didn't get some smoke or steam during the "burn in". I think it was just steam because I didn't detect any burning smell. Either way, I wouldn't want it condensing on that beautiful reflector. Thanks for the suggestion.
