Maybe the cuc makes a handle? Get lost when your cells die you have snack food?
A snack handle - this is a great idea. Would lumintop be open to developing this? If anyone has a vegetable cnc machine we can develop a prototype on…

I always wonder about the shapes some plastic things have.
Why the shape of a cucumber?
Where they left with some free plastic molds that they used and turned into a flashlight?
Or did someone seriously say “Yes thats it we’ll put a flashlight into the shape of a cucumber”
“you know what throw on a life hammer”
“Roight jobs done well done lads”
edit: looks like a handcrank vibrator
hmm cucumber light. First active cooling flashlight?
In case anyone missed it, I’ll probably repost this every now and then.
I have some news on emitter swaps.
I talked to Richard at Mountain Electronics (RMM on these forums and a sponsor here) and told him there might be more than a few guys with GT’S interested in swapping to a cooler tint. He says that if you send in your stock mcpcb to him and buy one of his new XHP35-HI emitters, he will reflow it for free! He has 2 choices right now, 5,000k and 5700k tint. They are both the same D4 brightness bin as the stock GT 4000k emitter.
The cost of both are under $8, plus the shipping cost there and back. I’m in Texas and shipping a small package from him is usually $2 to $3. So I would estimate the entire cost at under $15.
From his store:
BLF GT LED SWAP
Don’t like the tint of your BLF GT XHP35 HI? Send us your MCPCB and we’ll swap it for this one.
Please ship your BLF GT MCPCB to us and we will swap it, test it, clean it, and send it back to you.
Your entire order will not ship until we receive the LED and get it ready to ship.
Ship to:
Mountain Electronics LLC
8076 S. Box Canyon Rd.
West Jordan, UT 84081Here is the link to the 5000k.
Here is the link to the 5700k.
If your outside of the USA, then I’m not sure what shipping would be or if he even does international shipping. You’d have to contact him for details.
I posted a link to this in the comments under the BLF GT unboxing video by VOB as well.

You could try James from 3tronics.co.uk
If that is indeed so, the 3.9 times heavier, then the 305 gram aluminum reflector would turn into an 1186 gram silver reflector. Unless I missed something, that would mean an Silver reflector equipped GT would weigh approximately 6.9 pounds instead of 5 pounds, if a grown person could not lift 6.9 pounds I would have to wonder who carries their newborn babies for them?
You forgot the silver cost.

What tint light would best highlight my cucumber and spam sandwiches? 4000k, 5000k or 5700k?
Pretty sure it needs the be a rosy tint.
5700k , my favourite.
I posted this earlier but didn’t receive any responses. Not sure what forum protocol is in those cases so I’m just reposting here:
Forgive me if somebody asked this already, but is there any plan to make different types of heads for the GT? I feel like I just want to screw a laser on there and have this massive light saber. Or a head that is pure flood? I imagine with power like that you could make a light that would let the sun retire. And I guess it would be cheaper for anyone who has a GT, because no need to buy the handle. Maybe I’m just living in a fantasy world. I know nothing about what goes in to making one of these things. All I know is I love ’em.

There are no plans, that I’m aware of, to make different heads. There has been some (unofficial) discussion of spare parts (MCPCBs), but even spare parts are not on the table right now. All the focus is on producing enough BLF GT’s to meet the current signup list.
(I suspect the tube is much cheaper than the head anyway, so there would not be that much savings. If you had two GT heads, why not get the second tube so you could use / compare them side by side, assuming most of the cost is in the head.)
Just a thought, it was suggested Lumintop’s tooling blades are being worn down to a nub, to avoid replacing them as often when making the reflectors - hence the possible reason for inconsistent finishes from one to the next.
Now we are all of a sudden wanting quality over quantity, surely we aren’t going to get it if that tooling theory is true….???
Lumintop is not even making the reflectors my friend.

This is strictly a thrower. The power is within the batteries. The LED gives off the light. The head on this thing is where your money is well spent! I was a machinist for 3 years, I can only imagine how huch aluminium is being scrapped just to make this thing. I’m just curious what the tolerance is on that head. Nevertheless, you you bought yourself a light saber… Did you see some of the videos? That beam looks like its straight and goes on forever… I can’t wait to get mine! However,
If you want the sun in your hands get the DX80! It’s the most unbelievable impressive light I have, and have ever seen…! The amount of power this light draws has to be unreal… You can cook eggs with this thing or warm up your hands REAL quick! :sunglasses:
Looks like he has shutdown
He hasn’t. He still does them just at a smaller scale and turnover time will take awhile as its not his primary focus anymore. I honestly wouldnt mind the wait. Great lad btw!
Edit: You can always sens a PM his way and see if he is ok with it goodluck!
