Hi TA, I have not followed your mods very well but for using this XHP70 driver I guess the battery configuration needs to be altered to 6V instead of 12V?
Btw, I measured the voltage drop of one of the carriers while at 2A current, using 4 aluminium blanks in the carrier of exact the same length as a buttontop30Q, and I measured 0.2V voltage drop from the resistances inside the carrier.
0.2 V drop over 12V is not very significant so that is :+1:
Nope, that was the point of this driver, it works at the native 12V the GT comes as.
All you have to figure out is the MSPCB (the best option right now is the sinkpad 46mm aluminum mcpcb that can be sanded to fit or a modded SD75 mcpcb if you can get it), Or wait for lumintop to hopefully release a pre-made MCPCB for modding the GT.
Then drop in this driver and it is good to go for over 9k lumens (I saw over 10k for a few seconds).
Yes, and there’s more of them in the house, my son is particularly fond of cactuses. You just gave me an argument to sell the flashlight hobby to the family
i did the first steps with my BLF GTA (Giga Thrower aspheric) Aiming to kick the Optofires ass which uses a 120mm lens as well. The light already fires up, but is bad focussed at the moment. Quick and dirty put together for a first measurement. I measured 1.7 Mcd (8metres) already - without the Wavien Collar.
Been thinking of what kind of mods for this light and started to wonder what kind of IR LEDs are available these days that would work well with the GT.
Anyone else looked into this as of yet? If so, what kind of thought/research have you done? Any IR LEDs compatible with enough output to make it viable?
Kenji, out of curiosity, where did you find a lens of the right diameter and also with (about,I see cardboard bits) correct focal length? Or were you lucky?
