I post updates when I find out about them. When it’s ready to buy, I plan on having PMs sent automatically to everyone on the list. Otherwise, updates go into regular thread comments and sometimes also into the first post(s). But mostly, for the past few months, we’ve been just waiting on Lumintop.
With 1200 on the list, investment in a working prototype, and easy shipping options this time, their hangover from the GT project must be really big if they decide to stop with the FW3A.
I hope so This is coming to be an awesome light and having so much people interested on the GB would give LT a “boost” to get this out AFAP! I’m am still considering the possibility to put my name for a third light (the second for me, once the other will be for my ongoing GAW) but gonna hold this till we have more concrete news about specs and date of release !!
Lumintop surprised us with how quickly they put out the GT. They were 3 weeks into production before even telling us. So once they get approval on a final prototype they can in theory get it started in under a month. It all depends on what they’re currently focused on. Now that the GT Group buy is over they might be able to focus more on this project.
If I understand correctly, Lumintop may have been waiting for the GT project to end before putting more effort into the FW3A. But I think that’s over now, so things could potentially get moving quickly.
I’ve been using the prototype daily for like half a year now… and it’s really nice, aside from the things we asked Lumintop to fix or change. Hopefully LT proto2 will resolve all those things so we can do the final tweaks and clear it for production.
The main thing I’d fix, if possible, is communication. I think there needs to be a direct channel between someone at Lumintop and someone who is active in the project thread on BLF or TLF, so we can know what’s going on instead of guessing.
It started off as a technical tour-de-force. How to make a multiple-emitter 18650 torch with minimal materials (Fritz), state-of-the art performance, finely finished, exceptional UI (TK), no compromises.
I am dismayed to hear that there appears to be no central point of contact with Lumintop, nor any feedback after the first prototypes.
The Miller was the one in charge of this project, but he had to leave. Luckily other members have picked up where he left off. His Q8 project was fine and his GT project was fine. I’m sure this project will be fine as well.
Fritz is pretty much in charge, but he doesn’t frequent the BLF Forum often.
Yes he does… but another thing we learned from the GT Project is there are people at Lumintop who do speak English. TA proved this when he got things ‘back on track’ in a time of no communication from Neal.
What I read TK saying is there needs to be a point of communication between a designated person at LT & a designated person of this team.
Communication that goes freely both ways & does not have to be drug out of the LT represenative.
Communication that can then be shared, by the designated team member; with the readers of this thread.
That would be an improvement worth writing home about…
