Yup, sure, I know that I was just wondering if due to that wouldn’t it be better to put in the center! But I won’t bother much with that! Actually, due to the type of light, I’d prefer not to have a magnet or to have the option to put/not to put it !
+1 here!
I also asked about the diffuser before. Here’s my suggestion and djozz’s reply! Maybe having the diffuser as a extra can be doable, so that the “normal” pack keeps the lower price :money_mouth_face:
Of course, a magnet in the center is, in theory, better than an off center one, but in practice it won't make any difference because the tail is designed to hold a 5 x 3 mm magnet which has a retention force of at least 500 g (better ones up to 900 g), that is more than strong enough.
Just for comparison (I think I mentioned this already a few pages back) a DQG Tiny AAA uses a 5 x 2 mm magnet on the inside of the light, which means that there is always a layer of steel between the magnet and the surface it is attached to reducing its effectiveness, yet it is still strong enough to hold the light in any position.
I believe it is actually the sealing coat that anodized surfaces are usually covered with after the die is applied. It is usually very smooth, and is presumably some sort of polymer, so it’s basically gluing to a plastic coating.
Bare anodizing should actually bond very well, because it is usually a rough surface.
I would definitely try one of the warm versions to pit it against the E01. The mock-up looks good to me. Like a cross between an E01 and the Peak Eiger. Not a huge fan of the tail design because I won’t use a trit and don’t need a magnet. Impressed that this is happening. Very cool.
Edit: let me rephrase that, I don’t dislike the style of the tail, looks functional but I just don’t need ge extras of trits and magnets.
Please tell the Sofirn engineers to stress test this light big time before they release it. The first thing I’m going to do to mine is turn it on……but then I’m going to throw it at the wall, smash it on the ground, drag it behind my car, and chuck it off the top of a parking garage.
Barry was reading this thread and noticed the amount of talking  and is afraid that the process is slowing down, Sofirn wants to get on with making this light and will simply make the tail that we vote on. I think that thusfar being slow and talking a lot has payed off in the design but perhaps at this moment he is right?
I still think that I noticed that the current tail design is acceptable for most and that a new poll should just decide wether we should add those holes or not. Perhaps we can do a short 2-day poll about that? (I hope that TheShadowGuy would like to set this up again?)
Seriously though, I don’t think there’s any better compromise to be made to appeal to those who do or do not want a magnet or a tritium, as well as keeping a central keychain hang and tailstands.
I do not know which reflector shape they will use. I suggested experimenting with shapes, but do not know if they will do that. The worst outcome would be that they go for a parabolic shape because of the suggestion, with the led at some random height without checking the beam. I can hardly imagine that they will do that because there are some smart enough folks there.
I hope it is ok that i setup a new servey. I hope most people are ok with the Noir/djozz Tailcap Design.
The servey is only about the trit and magnet hole.
Thanks TheOnlyDocc, and I’m sure the german button does not confuse people (fertig=ready)
And I hope that going forward with the Noir/djozz tail (with or without holes) does not hurt the feelings too much of people who wanted a different design.
While the Noir/Djozz tailcap seems popular, I know there were a number of people against the idea of having magnet hole/trit hole, so I want to make sure they can be heard and counted.
This survey will be open for the weekend and I will present final results on Monday. If you are interested in buying one of these lights, please take this survey as soon as possible or forever hold your peace.
One thing I think would be great if it ends up with a trit slot is to have access to purchasing trits (uninstalled) to be shipped with the lights.
I would imagine it is rather expensive to buy and ship one or two trits from another source.
Just a thought.
