I’m interested in the cool white version, I just filled out the form. Glad I didn’t miss out on this group buy like I have the last two, the BLF Q8 and the BLF GT. Love my BLF Q8.
I feel really uneasy now spending another $220 for the NW version with such fluid transactions.
Wow…. Seems like the acessory purchases are ‘all over the map’…. with nobody knowing the real story.
I assume each one of those messages was on a different date. So maybe the situation has changed over time. Let’s let TA look over the info tomorrow.
I personally don’t know enough details on the bag stuff. I know Lumintop does not make bags, caps and straps so they have to source them from outside. Maybe it’s from Neal? It’s possible the stock at Lumintop ran out and they are waiting for another shipment. I don’t really know. TA probably has the current details.

Wow…. Seems like the acessory purchases are ‘all over the map’…. with nobody knowing the real story.
But why do you feel “uneasy” about purchasing another light??
Did you have problems receiving your GT70 also???
My uneasiness is not due to the light itself (although I had to fix the 360 rotating cap that was jammed with metal shavings), but with Lumintop backing out of their own commitment. I asked prior to buying the accessories if they would be shipped with the light and was told twice that yes they would be. When they did not arrive with my light I asked when they will ship and am told that they never intended to ship them in the first place. Not a relationship I look for when I am spending $440 for lights. Maybe the Lumintop direct thing was more than they could handle. Don’t get me wrong. This is an amazing, milestone light that the GT70 team did a tremendous job on. I certainly could not have pulled it off. As with most BLF projects, things are not always perfect when you push cost vs state-of-the-art. But it is such a shame that something as simple as the cap and strap orders going through is such a hurdle. I’ll have to find some solution to protect such an expensive light, which is not a big deal; but it’s unfortunate that something unrelated to the quality of their lights has tarnished my opinion of Lumintop.
To be fair though, this is by far the smoothest Group Buy I have ever seen.
Edit: I would think that if Lumintop ran out of inventory, they would set up a deal with Banggoid for the customers to order the same items for the same price. I don’t think they would try to force a higher price on somebody just because they may not have it in stock right now.
TA would need to sort it out.

That is pretty much what comes in the stock light.
I noticed the new emitter info was not in post #4. I updated it.
CW is 6500K P2 1A.
NW is 5000k P2 3C
TA says he would go with the CW for slicing the dome off over the NW. It’s the better looking of the two choices. If you can reflow leds then it might be best to shop around and get something that better suits you. If you like NW, maybe a 2A or 2D would be better?
I’m sure TA will give more details tomorrow.

Are 2A oder 2D (5700K) available with Binning P2?
Not found one till now.
I don’t know, I have not looked.
Here is a P2 5700K but I don’t know the tint code. Could be A, B, C or D.
I recently ordered one of these and should be receiving it any day now.

I second that thought. The BLF Q8 5000 - by far is the best bang for the buck ($40-$49) for everyday carry, and power consumption. You will not be disappointed. I personally have 6 of them.
Those that want the bags, batteries and other add-on’s I would recommend waiting to place your order until it is sorted out.

Ok, I got a minor update on the bags and caps. Basically they will not be available with the group buy BUT they will ship them separately later once they are in stock. So watch for these later.
Texas_Ace wrote:
Ok, The 30Q cells are officially live on the Lumintop website
Ok, so just checking: I can order the BLF GT70 CW with batteries, lens cap and strap so long, and then order the bag separately and they will ship that for free to the US?
I’m not in a hurry, so I don’t mind for everything to be available to send them out at once. Should I maybe email Leo and arrange this?
Yes, you can now place an order for everything except the Bag which will take several weeks to be produced. Everything available now will start shipping next week if all goes well.
On the bag you can order it at a later date and yes, shipping should be free then as well seeing as it would ship in a separate box even if it was ordered now.
This is not true according to Leo at Lumintop. Here is what he replied today when I inquired about when my caps and straps would be shipping:
Quote:
Jim,
We cannot organize the accessories together when I arrange the shipment because you paid twice. We will send refund of covers and straps to you soon.
If you need the accessories, pls buy them from banggood directly.
Pls kindly be noted.
Leo
This makes no sense because on 08/13, I asked Lumintop about shipping the items together and was told:
Quote:
Hello Jim, Yes, you can play the additional order for the head cover and shoulder strap, and we will ship them together with the GT70 flashlight.
Thank you
Victor
And then on 08/17 when I had order issues with their site, I inquired and was told:
Quote:
Thanks for the message.
Regret that your order 900109233 was wrong. For the code **** is only for GT70 orders, not for accessories.
So we would like to change the price to $28 which including the shipping fee, and after complete the payment, we can ship these together with order: 900107837
Any questions just feel free to contact us.
Thanks
Lumintop team
I paid for the accessories nearly two weeks before the light shipped. The irony is $28 was $6 more than my total which I assume was to cover shipping costs. I don’t see where I can get 4 caps and 2 straps on Banggood for $28 shipped. I realize these are accessories, but I am still making a purchase from Lumintop. Is there any BLF pull that can help get this straightened out? I don’t mind paying for shipping, but there is clearly a considerable difference in price on accessories between our BLF/Lumintop buy price and Banggood. I feel really uneasy now spending another $220 for the NW version with such fluid transactions.
First off I am far from clear on exactly what has gone down with your order but my best guess is as follows:
Where are you located? I think that the shipped fee they refer to is due to your location. Some locations need an extra $20 or $40 for shipping. That would explain $20 of the extra $28 and sadly no, this is not refundable. Only the $2 overcharge on the price is refundable if you request it.
I am also guessing that the bag and cap were not included with the first order, which is why a second was needed. That would seem to mean that you need a $8 refund, not $6. So that is odd.
Finally far as them not being shipped together, sadly I can’t say I am surprised, nor can I really blame them. Having had to deal with mass orders like them many times personally, it is oh so very easy to not realize there are 2 separate orders going to the same address ad thus waste money shipping 2 separate orders.
Now the bag and cap should of been sent separately, that I can’t really explain.
I would suggest that you contact Neal, he is the one that actually sourced the bags and caps, it is possible he still has some available and he could sort it out on the back end somehow. I will contact him and give him a heads up.
We have not seen a stock CW dedomed LED yet to know what the final tint would look like, so it is impossible to say if it would be better or worse then the one from KD.
That one from KD should work ok though.
As Jason said, any A or D tint LED should work for dedoming. At least as good as we can get.
So what I mean is: Does a XHP70.2 always look exactly the same, with the same electrical requirements the same pad position, size, etc….? So I can buy any XHP70.2, and it will always fit…..
I think this is the case, but I am not 100% sure….

Yes, they are all the same. You can configure to run them at 6V or 12V depending on how the PCB is configured, but the LEDs all have the same pad configuration and package size for the 70.2.

Yep, what he said. I do not know if there is a standard package name for the XHP70.2 footprint though. You could try looking for something like 7070 6v or 12v but I kinda doubt you will find anything.

Okay, I was over thinking it. It’s a simple thing. They usually go by the dimensions of the emitter base.
All 70 and 70.2 are 7mm by 7mm aka 7070.
All XML, XML2, SST-40, 50 and 50.2 are 5mm by 5mm aka 5050
All XHP35, XHP35.2, XPG, XPG2, XPG3, XPL are 3.45 by 3.45, but we call it 3.5 × 3.5 aka 3535.
Nichia 219 and 319 are actual 3535.
The new version Luxeon V are an odd duck at 4040.
So it’s just a matter of matching the package to the pads on the mcpcb.
With the 3535 they just have 2 electrical pads. They can run a 3v xpl, etc… or a 12v xhp35 because it’s 4 dies are wired in series. So you send 3v to an xpl and 12v to a xhp35.
Now the 5050 and 7070 are a bit tricky as you can run them at either 6v or 12v. This is determined by the mcpcb and it’s pad arraignment. You need the right mcpcb for your voltage needs on the 5050 and 7070.
Hopefully that’s enough info for you. We’ve talked extensively about mcpcb pads and the different types of voltage setups back in the GT thread and elsewhere. It helps to use pictures to explain that.

What do you mean by “package”? I’m not familiar with the term. Can you give me an exampke?
