Dale, any preview on what you have planned with those new parts? I like the idea of that 4040/5050 board but without a battery carrier and without 4040 centering rings it almost seems like more trouble than itās worth until one of those things changes.
I change the bore on centering rings all the time, no sweat there. Was figuring on either the LH351D or maybe SST-40ās. I donāt usually worry about changing battery carriers around and such, if I wanted to use 6V emitters Iād simply stack 18350ās in there and have at it.
Might actually simply flash Anduril and leave it be, or put in the 80CRI 5000K LH351Dās for color. Iāve got all kinds of max power lights, after all. lol
Just noticed another difference with the BLF Q8, when removing battery contact, the switch led fades out instead of stopping immediately. The light must have battery contact for half a minute to show this. There must be some capacitance somewhere that is not in the BLF-Q8. Time to look at the driver (but not today).
Looks like youāll be the second person here to receive the Sofirn Q8.
My order, as of last tracking update yesterday, is still in GuangZhou, āair transportā (ie. just about to leave China).
Regarding the Sofirn Q8, did they still use NarsilM v1.0? Or have they updated to at least NarsilM v1.2?
Strobe modes (not that I use them much though) are a lot more difficult to use on NarsilM v1.0.
First itās gotta get processed and then get to Melbourne. Could be another week My 2nd BLF A6 arrived with Australia Post awaiting clearance in melb on 5th Sept but light only arrived yesterday.
I recently received some Q8 drivers. They had a tantalum capacitor stacked on top of what appeared to be the original stock capacitor at C2. C2 is attached to the trace that powers the MCU. That might account for the new behavior you noted. I didn't get a chance to see how the drivers behaved because I modded them for 2S and 4S cells and also reflashed their MCU's before I even used them.
