Would you be able to get a tighter beam or farther throw if the head had a deeper reflector and larger diameter?
Going deeper will probably have a negligible effect on the candela. A little, but not a lot. I think it was Enderman that showed me on the main GT thread why they chose this depth. It’s a good compromise.
Changing the diameter is the main thing. This makes all the difference.

What in the actual hell!? I just had my lens crack after I used the light for about 1 minute.. it was off and I was using the original CW version when I heard a very strange sound come from the NW GT70 I received yesterday. Had a look and found this.. Has anybody had this happen to theirs? I emailed Leo but don’t expect a response from Lumintop for at least a few days. What a disappointment!!!!
I’ll keep you guys posted on the outcome when Leo gets in touch…
Wow, that is the first I have heard of anyone breaking the lens I think in any form. They do over tighten the heads for sure, I have told them this but the option was keep tightening them the way they are or add glue. I chose to leave things the way they are since at least with enough effort the head can be removed now.
You might see what the cost to get one of the plastic lenses from https://www.flashlightlens.com/ would be shipped to you, might be about the same price as lumintop sending you a replacement and you would get a better lens that should not break in shipping. Would not hurt to at least mention the option if the price is reasonable.
I haven’t received my NW light or tracking info and don’t know if I am in the minority or the majority. Of those who purchased the NW GT70, how many of you have not received your light or tracking info?
How is the flood on the GT70 model? I had read that the light actually had a decent amount of flood want to check that out before ordering. I know it isn’t a flood light just wonder how it beam looks, I apologize if there is beam pictures I have tried to go through this whole thread and haven’t seen a beam profile picture yet.

Check out the video in post #2.
The spill light is just the light directly from the emitter which misses the reflector. So if you have 7500 lumen on turbo, you have 7500 lumen worth of spill light. It will light up everything around you.
With the original GT, you only have about 1800 lumen of spill lighting, which is noticable dimmer.

Just ordered my NW and a CW conversion. Was gonna wait until after we moved to the new house but said to hell with it and am having it shipped to my brothers. Didn’t wanna risk missing out on the GB.

Probably a smart move…… . . As long as your brother is trustworthy… . .

Is the GT70 NW a cooler tint compared to the GT NW? Got the 70 last week and comparing the two the 70 puts out a whiter light. Could I have received a CW by mistake?
Well I have tried to fight it for several weeks, but couldn’t do it anymore. Purchased one through Nealsgadgets, the individual is top notch on communication. Glad to finally be joining the GT70 owners.
Got mine in…NW, no battery. Account hasn’t updated online but I’ve got it.
I also didn’t realize the battery issue… so I guess I will have to splurge. Went and bought some more batteries. And a Q8. And a couple new charges to get all 8 batteries charged.
There is a seller on eBay named genuinecells that I have bought from several times. I have ordered 30Q’s, VTC4’s, VTC6’s, and NCR18650B button tops from them. Always fast shipping and great prices on cells.
I might have to ship the light back / return the light indeed. The customs wrote that even a certificate (regarding the CE compliance I guess) would not change the decisions that the market surveillance made. Now thats really unfortunate.
Oha!
hast Du schon auf Taschenlampen-Forum.de gefragt was die dazu meinen? Die kennen sich eher mit dem Zoll aus.
Since I’m going to be using 8 cells in this monster… is there a better 8 cell charger than the nitecore i8? Or would 2 4-bay chargers be better?
I have a collection of 4 bay chargers I use for most things (LII-500’s and Opus C3100, although the fan on the opus can be annoying if you sit next to it).
For big jobs I pull out my custom 14 cell hobby charger

I use my hobby charger too! Although this last time I was too lazy to set everything up, so I just cycled all 8 cells through my 2 Bay over the course of a couple days. Call me lazy or patient lol.
I think the best charger is the Enova GyrFalcon. http://www.mtnelectronics.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=79&pr...
This is the only 8 cell charger that I know of that charges up to 8 26650s, graphically shows cell status, can do 4.35V cells and Lipos as well as NiMH, and can charge all channels at 1A. This charger is given a very good rating by HJK.
i8 will only charge 8 cells at 0.5A, has no graphic display, doesn’t do 4.35 or 3.6V lipos, will fit 4 26650s. HJK rating of acceptable.
Miboxer C8 ist good too. It has a bit lower charging current with 5+ Cells, but ist has 1.5A current for up to 4 cells. And it has automatic settings for current depending on resistance. You can also choose your own charging current.
But 8 × 26650 will not fit. Therefore its smaller.

That is actually a really nice looking charger. If I had it to do over again I think I would get that over 2× 4 bay chargers. Only advantage my 4 bay chargers have is the discharge testing.

This is the first lens I’ve heard about breaking.
Even when some GT’s got dropped in shipping and dented the bezel, the glass held up.
