TK, that button effect is simply from the circular machining marks, it’s present on virtually every flat surface machined true on a lathe. Depends a lot on the feed rate but yeah, see it all the time cutting ends of bar stock on the lathe.
Sure know how to explain the magic out of her discovery! Humbug!
Per post #6622, I’d like to up my requested number of lights, but don’t see that the list has my updated info on it. If it’s simply not been updated yet, please excuse my paranoia.

I try not to update the list more than once per week, and the last update was only two days ago. The timestamp at the top of post #4 shows when it was last updated.

A flower is simply the effect of rearranging some of the chemicals in dirt into a different form, and people see them all the time… but I still like to stop and smell them.

So very well said & true. If we don’t take time to smell the flowers in lifes journey…. we truly miss a lot. . .

From TLF review “The VTC5A does not work in my lamp”
does this concern anyone?
It’s odd because he used a unprotected flat top which should be 65mm long. The 30Q should be 64.9mm long. The FW3A has springs on both ends. In theory it should work.
False alarm. It seems the driver is not positioned corectly.

Yes, but the issue isn’t really about the battery… Bluzie seems to have gotten one with the same driver fit issues I had, and I’m pretty sure that’s the source of the problem(s).
I sent quite a bit of detail to Neal, and mostly just need to wait for him to work things out with Lumintop.
Just want to make sure I’m still on the list. I originally signed up for 3 then later canceled 2 but I’m only able to find the two cancelations listed.
I do still want one light, am I still down for one?
Edit: 1406 is still there. Thanks!

This makes me a bit worried about their QC
These are prototypes, not production, or even pre-production. Lots of short cuts are made in the proto phase, plus things are not finalized yet.
In the Q8 project, we went through a lot of similar trials/tribulations. Believe me, this is wayyy better they are going slowly rather than rushing this out. You should never see or hear about this problem in something shipped that's paid for. Early reviewers also see some bad stuff that gets fixed before shipped.

Exactly, that is the reason for prototype builds… I saw these referred to as ‘Proto4’ in one of the posts. That’s a good sign they are finding and working out any issues before moving on to the next build phase.
Even more confusion. In the TLF they are talking about the light not working without the clip because it works as a spacer for the tail cap(?). If that’s the case it might be a good idea to include a spacer ring to replace the clip if someone does not want the clip(?)

Euhm, wasn’t this suposed to be a (pre-)production light? I believe I read this a couple of pages ago and that TK commented that she believes people of lumintop don’t quite get what a production sample is. Anyway, I’ve learned it’s better to wait until the first batch has been send out and tested by the buyers before placing/paying my order.

This has already been discussed so there should be no confusion. This is also why Lumintop wants to glue the tail cap. The tail cap and or clip is not supposed to be removed. It’s supposed to be unscrewed at the head for battery access.

This last round was supposed to be a production sample. It clearly wasnt, though because they don’t have the right led or lens. It also looks like they need to tweak the fitment of the driver. It’s diameter is a tiny bit too big or it’s hole is a bit too small causing some samples to not sit down in it’s machined hole.
The parts issue will be fixed when the leds and optics arrive. The driver fitment issue should be easy to fix with some tweaks.

TK, thanks for the link to TLF, this will give me a nice excuse to try Google Translate from my laptop.

No concern here, there are plenty that will work/fit.

^^ I could not see much difference in the photos. Looks like it should work. Photos look like the VTC5 has longer nipple.
IDK> Would like to know more about it. Maybe it was just his sample??

My bad it was djozz making the comment and maukka found it strange that his “production” sample had a cool white emitter
