More reasons I wish I had time for some projects. I’m putting off an order, because I promised myself I would not start any more projects until I finish a couple lingering projects that work is delaying.
But when I do get around to it, now that I know the VR16SP4 is individually addressable, I’m pretty sure I will need one of those in the quad E17A color versions to stick behind a frosted lens in a Convoy.
Unfortunately, the version of the Convoy S2+ that such a colorful emitter board deserves does not actually exist.
Does anyone know of other 4-channel driver options besides the one Mountain sells?
Guys, do you still miss sw45k 219B R9080? I just did a quick test on a mixed 2x 2000K E21A and 2x 6500K E21A quadtrix.
I don’t like it because….it’s exxtremely pink at any current! AFAIK, the Duv should be much lower than any 219B sw45k I’ve ever seen. The combined CCT looks very close to 4700K to my eyes.
This is the fixture I made for Maukka to ease his testing with varying CCTs. Made from scrap aluminum plate and PVC scraps.
Imperfect reflow, not going to fix it. It won’t cause any problem for spectrum testing. Simple reheating will correct the LED position (and all the wires will have to soldered back again ….)
Never try to sand soft PVC board, unless you want to color it grey.
Relatively tight color mixing 35mm TIR optic. Less than 10°
Approximately a meter from the wall. Each markers are 5cm apart.
Hey, people call me a heretic ’cause I like the stock 4C in S2+es, and they’re above the BBL. Then again, so’s actual sunlight. Still, I do like rosy, and I loooooove those sw45ks.
1. Nitecore TIP CRI; (Nichia NVSL219B LED, 3500K This is for sure not 3500K rather 5000K I guess)
2. Wuben E05 Special TLF - Edition (Samsung LH351D LED, 5000K)
3. JetuE21A (Nichia E21A (R9080) D220, 5000K)
Dual output driver would be ideal. Simplest setup is to set the LED in 2s(n)p and a potentiometer. Then check whichever LED pairs has the lowest resistance and connect the resistance in series to the string.
Crude but works
It seems not strange. The curves of equal tint have negative second derivative(in uv coordinate). The tint of mix located at the line betwin tints of separated LEDs of mix(as I understand procidure of calculating UV is linear). The more difference betwin CCT of LEDs in mix the more negative Duv.
Yup, correct. That’s why with full range of available, we can custom engineer by mixing those E21A. No longer dependent to 219B sw45k.
I’m taking another beamshots now, stay tuned….
I don’t know of any suitable dual-channel driver yet for a flashlight. Something like 3 or 4 x 7135 on each channel would do it, and then it could be paired with a quadtrix in an S2+ or Skilhunt H03 behind a frosted optic, or perhaps as alternative, in a D4 body. I wouldn’t mind trading the D4’s high output for a tint-shifting option.
