Hi Martin! Any target date for the opening of this group buy?

Astrolux knows something about the SST-40 that we do not know: the FT04 makes 3000 lumen OTF on turbo, so that is about 3500 lumen from a single SST-40 led. Awesome!

So, now it's not only Lumintop and Amutorch but also Banggood/Mateminco/Astrolux who started to copy Olight's blue bezelring design. ;-)

Looks like Mateminco bought some residual stock material of HaikeLite's MT07S or they just copied their design. :-D

A proprietary charging connector with only 2A is a bit disappointing. It's the same situation with HaikeLite's new MT40 that also comes with a similar proprietary charger.

55Ā°C stepdown from high is a bit on the conservative side but I like that the driver can step the power up again. 3.000 lumens out of one SST-40? I don't think so.

However, this one might be a nice host for a 3V XHP50.2 flashlight.

Why? :person_facepalming:

Should be 1800 to maybe 1900 lumen at most.

I was told 10A - so probably it's 3000 LED lumen?

better host (heatwise) than the FT03 for sure

and the FT04 is a new Haikelight cooperation

The SST40 maxes out at around 1800-1900 lumen OTF. This is around 10A. I donā€™t know why they post such a crazy number.

Itā€™s a SST40, right? Same as in FT03?

No worries guys! Those ridiculous 3.000 lumens were just a typo. Instead, Mateminco was able to source an 11.000 (eeeeleven-thooouuusand!) lumens SST-40. :-D

So, I like this UI very much. When temperature reaches 55Ā°C it steps up to 11.000 lumens. ;-)

I like HaikeLite's hosts for these are quite hefty. But at 10A the bonding wires of the SST-40 would burn. Djozz's sample died at 9.5A, koef3's sample at 9.4A.

Anything above 7.4A is considered to have a significant impact on its life expectancy, at least for the N4 flux bin.

Extra zero by mistake. Give them a few days at least to get the info sorted out.

It seems the FT04 is basically the same size head and emitter as the FT03, but with 3 x 18650 instead of 1 x 26650. So output and throw should be about the same. You could have double the battery capacity which means double the run times.

i like the design of the Haikelite over the Astrolux to be honest.
Yeah and no way a SST40 will produce 3000 Lm

which bin is used in the FT03?

Sorry, Iā€™m not too familiar with Luminus bins.

Here is Djozzā€™s test on an average bin. This is not the highest bin and itā€™s also a bare LED on a power supply. Once inside a flashlight you get losses (maybe around 25%) that take that 2500 lumen down quite a bit.

I definitely would not imagine a bin change adding 600 lumen (from 2400 to 3000). Bottom line is that itā€™s a small led (2mm by 2mm die same as XM-L2 and XPL) and itā€™s output is limited. Iā€™m curious to see if itā€™s output is higher than the FT03.

Remember that the FT03 was pushing the led pretty hard with high drain cells. People were concerned a high drain might burn it up. The FT04 has an even stronger battery setup. I think the smart battery to use is 3 high capacity cells like Samsung 35E as opposed to the stronger 30Q.

Itā€™s still early days, though. We donā€™t know everything that has changed between the FT03 and FT04.

These are 3000 HaikeliteLumens. Easily doable with this LED.

I for sure dont, astrolux has their own design which is fine, now suddenly it looks like a HL light but with astrolux logo? and claims 3000 lumens is also not realistic ā€¦ this is not goodā€¦

As M4D M4X said ā€œthe FT04 is a new Haikelight cooperationā€

And i believe Astrolux is a Banggood brand that have/had products made by Manker, Mateminco and now Haikelight. So Astrolux changing designs is nothing new!
The 3000 lm is just the typical unrealistic bull

I would argue that the FT04 is worse for batteries you can only use 18650s the FT03 you can use 3 different cells 18650s, 21700, 26650s,. Sure 3 18650s has more capacity but its probably not needed using the SST40 if it was upgraded to the XHP50.2 it would be ideal.

No, itā€™s not using the same LED.

Itā€™s using the SST-40 P2 LED found in the Amutorch thrower from zeroairā€™s review.

Itā€™s probably going to be doing 2800 lumens at startup, so about 2500 lumens OTF.
