There is a lens made for the MagicShine bike lights that diffuses the beam wider (but apparently with some optic loss)? Here is a post about use (see the quote). Ebay link here (US Seller). Apparently also fits a C8 pretty well. I just ordered myself one for bike headlight use (and to play with). Shipped out almost immediately after the order! Expect to receive by Tuesday!
I have a couple of these, work fine so far, they are indeed throwy with too much of a hotspot for biking. I also have an MCE version with OP reflector, it's not as bright but far more useful. Swapping the OP reflector onto the XMLs does not make much difference either BTW but I cannot comment on the diffusing lens. I have been thinking about mounting all together running from a DRY driver and my own battery pack but it's not something I actually have the talent to make well.
Yes butmy countryhasn't yet signeda business agreement withPP so there's no "Serbia" in PP system and if you pay via PP shipping address and PP address have to be same!!!
I’d say parallel cell arrangement is much more safer (as reverse charging, the main cause of cell explosions, can NOT occur with cells being in parallel).
In my experience with a Magicshine 808E... don't buy this if you have a wireless computer on your bike, it will just stop working or maybe throw random readings...
I would buy a pair, at this price is tempting, but there is no place where it can be fitted without affect the computer (I tried everything, the only safe place is the helmet but I don't think it would be a nice place, for the biker and for other drivers!), so I'll have to pass :(
Thanks. I don't expect it to be perfect by any means. But worst case, I'll do my own mods to it. One thing it will certainly need (from what I've read) is better heating sinking, i.e. good layer of thermal compound under the star, and possibly a new heat sink.
well, nowit's too lateforwarnings,alreadyordered...
WhileI usedthis light on my bikeI never hadproblemswith the heat, even while running on 100% for more than 20 minutes. However,SSC-P7 versionwhich Ialsoused had anoticeablewarming butI never experiencedthat the light lowers its output to prevent overheating...
Could you please clarify what you mean by "you never had problems"? Are you meaning the light never got warm, or it became warm, but not really hot? In my experience, any XML light driven reasonable well is going to get warm, which is a good sign of heatsinking. My concern is if the light does NOT get warm at all, which would indicate the heat is not being properly removed from the LED/Driver pill. This could potentially be harmful for both if exposed to that much heat for excessive periods.
Well, it gets a little bit warm to the touch butnothing significant, it feels like you could left it ON for days, but I tested it only while riding bike so there was an air flow to...
My onlyobjection to thislight is that it has no MID mode, just very HI and moderate LO and of course annoying STROBE!!! Before this offer by DX I wanted to order this one from MF just because of better mode arrangement...
