Got mine yesterday. 5.5 amps and 1100 lumens ain't that bad for $5 light w/charger, thrower and flood LED's. Overall quality is decent - I've seen much worse.
I measured the 5.5 amps and lumens (Tom E lumens). 1170 at turn on, 1080 at 30 secs.
Now bout the electronics. It's a conventional power switch driver, except that it does turn the LED's off while still being powered on. 3 pole switch where the 1/2 presses cut power. If the switch is up, the driver has power. So there is a parasitic drain, not measured yet. Besides the ring that uncovers the USB port, the tube and head seem glued pretty good. I did try my sticky gloves but not more aggressive methods yet. I would like to get to the driver. I do see at least one joint at the base of the bezel, just above the removable ring. Least they designed the tail switch to come apart easy enough - the plastic piece with the spring threads into the tail piece.
Thanks for affirming the amp draw.
Over 1000 lemons after 30 seconds for $5, yeah baby!
The modes are as described, and you can charge with USB, donāt know what the hate is about with some members about this flashlight.
It cost less than a Value meal at McDonalds
The driver looks like pressed in from the front/top and I saw the gap you are talking about at the edge at the base of the bezel, head seems glued good, batt tube gave up after just giving a good grip and reef on it.
Thing seems to heat up nicely, controlled if you will.
No āhateā from me, just learned my lesson with the dreaded AT01. What a POS each of those wereā¦ Most 9-LED craplights had better quality than those.
Then again, remember the Tacklife? That was a great investment; wish I wouldāve gotten more. Got some diffusion film on it (inside, between reflector and glass), and itās a kick-arse (now-)floody light that daylights whatās in front of me. Absolutely great all-around-the-house light.
Anyhoo, Iād wait for reviews first before getting burned again on an unknown.
I put a fresh charged yellow 18650 at 4.16v 2 days ago.
I used the light for about 2 mins total on low and I just checked the cell it reads 4.07, thatās not good right?
I measured 38 uA parasitic drain, which is pretty low. So maybe Pete above is correct - that voltage drop is normal for this drain, or yours has a higher drain, or that yellow 18650 is not so good? Maybe you can look at a discharge curve and see how many amps it would take for that voltage drop. Voltage drop is not linear so have to look at 4.16 down to 4.07.
Both NW and CW versions of the Wowtac A2S headlamp are $23.99 (compared to the normal 29.99 price), which was awesome to find since Iāve been eyeing this model for a while now.
Banggood has the Astrolux FT03 SST40-W for 33.99 US right now. If you donāt have one, you need one. Best thrower bang for the buck everā¦. Sorry, I missed seeing the word Amazon when I posted this, but I am going to just let it stay because it is a good deal.
