Amazon Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

I kid you not, people’ve been arrested/tried/convicted of drunk driving being buzzed while being on a riding lawnmower, in a motorised wheelchair, even just having a car up on blocks with no engine (still “in control of the vehicle”), so watch out if you have any busybody neighbors.

I have seen guys taking their mower to the bar and getting DUIs. I keep it to two beers and stay on my own property. Nobody around except the wife. Around here every year or two an old geezer gets killed on his tractor doing something or another. Last summer a guy died after losing his brakes on a hill. Another had a heart attack. Usually they roll them on themselves. I should start wearing my seatbelt again.

Okay, quickie earmuff shootout among the H10, H12, and H18. Still can’t find my H17s but at least know which pile they’re in/under.

H10 and H12 are easily way better as far as ANC. My big angry floor-fan is nearly completely silenced by both, and I can still ear a bit of a purr with the H18s. (All physically unplugged, ANC on.)

Better physical isolation with the 10s and 12s, too. I think the softer pads on the 18s let a little more sound leak through, but not by much. The 10s and 12s are more vacuumy, ie, squish them down on your head and they suck on your ears when springing back, just like my QC15s (RIP).

Passively listening, everything off, they all sound kinda meh, turning ANC on changes (improves?) the sound quite a bit.

Both the 10s and 12s don’t have as much “boost”(?) as the 18s. Don’t like/trust the sound from my phone, as I tweaked the Hell out of it to try to make older passive earmuffs sound better when listening at work, on the bus, etc. So listening offa yootoob vids on the laptop is my crappy “test”.

Both the 10s and 12s have the yt volume cranked up to max, and they’re still not “loud enough”. With the 18s, I actually had to take the volume down a notch to keep them from vibrating off my head.

Test vids:

Johnny Cash, “Solitary Man”

Sound Apparel, “The Love That Lasts The Longest (part 1)”

All 3 sound great with “Solitary Man”, nice crisp acoustic guitar and vocals, good “presence”. No complaints. Did have to turn it down some with the 18s, as it felt like Johnny was screaming in my ears.

With “The Love That…”, when listening with the 10s and 12s, I had to try cranking it up, but couldn’t. With the 18s… orgasmic. Actually had enough volume from the boost to rattle my brain quite nicely.

So if you have a sissy-pansy phone, mp3 player, whatever, that doesn’t crank up loudly enough, you might want/need to stick with the 18s just for the boost.

In a really noisy environment, the 10s and 12s will be lots better at cancellation.

In almost everything else, I didn’t notice much difference between the 10s and 12s, but this was just a quickie shootout as mentioned above, not any detailed comparison.

Your mileage may vary. Cape does not enable the wearer to fly. Contents may have settled during shipping.

Or install a roll-cage.

Thanks for the quick test, I’ll just let the grand kids kill which ever ones I don’t like.

This may be stupid to ask since you seem to have much experience with these matters but did you turn up the volume on both your phone and on the ear muff? Mine didn’t sound loud enough either until doing this. Or maybe you did damage your hearing. Mine weren’t earth shaking but just enough.

Phone volume is always at maximum, yep. Got one of those separate audio-amps and use that to set my preferred listening volume.

Wired, no volume-control on any of the earmuffs (just anc on/off, and <</|</>>, that’s it).

And no, I still got hearing like a bat.

This is the code I used and the link to the pair I bought— I’m just noticing no $10 coupon—maybe they caught on —try again tomorrow

CODE: 5GMA-247372-VJGWAK

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VKJQSPG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The Most of the H10/12 have the same noise cancelling circuitry. The H18 has an upgraded circuitry supposed to be better noise cancelling. For me the sound quality of the H10 is very good for the $10 price. But the microphone sounds very one dimensional and not clear during calls.

$10 coupon shows up when I click on your link.

"CODE: 5GMA-247372-VJGWAK"

Code doesn't work for me.

Someone said that your account knows if the $10 coupon has been used once and doesn’t show again but I didn’t try to trick it. It is showing for me and I used it on the 10s once already. I know once the Vipon code is used once it won’t work again.

At least for the 18s, when I called someone who loves the sound quality of my phone, she said it sounded as if I were underwater. So, earmuffs off…

I notice that the H12 shown on Vipon now is a new and improved model with a bigger battery and USB-C charging port among other things.

Are you saying you can request Vipon coupon for H10 and instead apply it towards a purchase of H17? That didn’t work in my case.

No, I was just confused.

This code didn't work for me and I thought figured out why, buy I was wrong (5GMA-247372-VJGWAK).

Looks like the code is invalid.

Well, these Vipon codes are one-time use, so if chops728 used it to buy his H17, then that code is done.

Most of the time it’s daily amounts they sell —I’ve use the codes on two different Amazon accounts on several occasions—I’ve also had a code not work and then the next morning worked fine

I ordered a H12 for 16.49.

This is a few bucks more expensive than the other offerings but I spent the extra because of the USB C charging, bigger battery and because they claim it’s “CVC8.0” supposedly better than CVC6.0. Probably just marketing BS?

Would be fun to compare these with my higher end wireless headphones from Bower and Wilkins, Vmoda and Aiwa. I don’t think they will sound remotely close, but the noise cancelling should be worth it. I tried the Bose QC35 and was like meh… no way these are worth $300.

I want to take back what I said about hearing my headband go “thud” with every step. I hadn’t tried walking with the ANC on. Tonight I took a half hour walk with the H10 and ANC takes out nearly all of that thumping (I only hear it with no music playing). There’s a bit of creaking as the joints flex, but not enough to be a bother. The ANC also takes out most (not all but maybe 80%) of the tire noise from passing cars. It does nothing to stop firecracker pops, but that would be asking too much! Plenty of enhanced bass on these with ANC. What’s interesting is that the sound with and without ANC is so radically different. Washed-out ‘blah’ sound without, but solid bass and decently defined mids & highs with ANC. MPow H10 is definitely a keeper. I hope they hold up.
