This thing is so impressive. I want one but am not sure about suitable light fixture styles. Any recommendations for fixture styles that would suit this beast?
Yea I was wondering what the “A” stands for. The title of this review has been corrected.
This bulb surely needs a big light fixture! A massive floor lamp like this might work nicely with this bulb. I recommend doing a ceiling bounce with a 50W bulb.
I don’t recommend fixtures like this unless you have a dimmer. 50W LED bulb without some kind of light diffusing solution would be unpleasant to look at.
I created my ceiling light bounce fixture from this IKEA ceiling lamp. Works perfectly in my living room:
Extra tip: there are inexpensive E27 (and other socket types) extender adapters available on Ebay and AliExpress so you can fit a large bulb like this on some fixtures that would not allow it otherwise. (like this )
For a while I’ve had a project on my mind to do an overkill desk lamp that would double as semi-portable light as well.
Some flexible base, a dimmer (a MUST), the biggest and baddest SunLike bulb with a 60 degree lens.
I lack time for it, but so far I mainly fail to find a really sturdy base.
That lamp is very nice. Quite far from what I’ve had on my mind (Diffuser + reflector rather than lens, not as overpowered, mounted rather than standalone) but it is still one of the most interesting lamps I’ve seen for sale.
Nice review Taskulamppu! This sure is an impressive bulb.
@Sunlike good fortune with your small business, I love your DIY experimentation. I think that you found a niche with these high power high CRI bulbs that is not covered yet by the big manufacturers.
BTW, looking after E40 bases I found an E40 bulb… https://e40-led.eu/index.php/sample-sites/led-e40-hql-hqi-ersatz
100W, CRI95min (9698 in actual test), 11 000lm. And lens.
Even bigger overkill…aside from the fact that sometimes enough is enough, it’s only 5000K, far too cold for me.
They offer CRI85 bulbs up to 160W and just under 22 000lm.
SunLike, you show several different radiators for the largest bulbs. I see how Taskulamppu has measure the bulb weight but I’m not sure if that measurement is relevant to the bulbs that you sell now.
I’d like to buy SunLike50AD with a lens and I have a few questions.
What is the weight with the passive and active radiators?
Do you have any sound pressure level measurement of the active bulb? I read that you describe it as silent but I would welcome so hard data to be able to decide whether it’s silent enough for me.
How will doubling the number of COBs affect the beam of the variant with a lens?
Ouch. That’s not what I would call silent. So I’d rather take 50D. Is the radiator the same as the OP got? I mean - may I assume that the weight is similar?
So 40W is the maximum I can have, right? That’s enough anyway.
Will the beam have flowery petals or can the lens smooth them out?
25W SAW LED can work with some overload. For example 1440mA is maximum current from datasheet, I use it with 1200mA in 50w model, but you can choose 150% or 200% of leds
also 10(12)w SAW cob led have size like 6w cob led, so I can place 4pcs under one 43mm lens, yes it is not perfect and have flowery petals near outline of beam
I see…SAWS1566A is a 25W COB but can be driven up to 56.2W. Seemingly it is rated as 25W only for the sake of efficacy. About 90 lm/W at 25W and about 80 lm/W at 56.2W for 3000K. I care about the perfect beam shape so single COB is the thing for me.
It looks like SAWS1566A would be a good choice for me, though SAWS226AA looks even better with close to 100 lm/W at 50W.
