So I finally got around to this one. I got tired of the bat signal die projection out of my zoomie, and had toyed with the idea of an led with a non-square die for a while. I had a Nichia 319A lying around, so I figured why not?
Host is a UT20 zoomie. Nichia 319A, D440 so 5000k and 70 cri on this one. 16mm DTP board. Driver is a standard Convoy 5 amp 4 mode
It was challenging to get the thing centered since the holder/centering deal is for a 5050 LED.
Zoomed out (or in? I forget)
The building is maybe 15 meters away, and maybe 40 meters to the fence on the far side of the parking lot. It throws pretty good. No idea on the lumens, maybe 700 or 800?
I think this throws better than the SST40! I don't think I'll be swapping it out since I really like the beam from the hex die.
Was thinking along the same lines and reflowed a 319A into a Boruit D20 Zoomie headlight. The center of the zoom lens comes frosted though so it probably wasn’t even necessary.
Can’t see the resulting beam well in this photo but it’s a nice a round hotspot zoomed out
