For all we know they are simply replacing the label with a more colourful one.
That said perhaps they are changing supliers or getting out of the battery business. We just don’t know.
Seems Amazon Basics and Duracell stopped using the Japanese cells and switched to the Chinese ones since they are probably much cheaper. Of course they sell them for the same price as the old ones. Ikea is probably doing the same. From their point of view making more money trumps selling a better product.
I posted this 1 day 14 hours ago.
17 hours ago, less than a day after i posted, the AA Laddas went out of stock online but there were 28 packs available at my local store.
Just checked and those packs have goooooone.
Looks like Oz internet was simply reporting from it’s advanced time zone
def_nvar, thanks much for the heads up brother. I had tryed to mailorder some of these about 2 years back and they wanted more $ for shipping than the battery cost so at that time I bought eneloops. I swung by the local Ikea store about 3 weeks back and they were 100 percent out, all they had was the sign, no stock. When I saw your post I tryed again and the shipping was a very respectable and fair $5.95. Glad to have gotten some more.
I have enough MIJ Ladda to meet my needs for the near future (eg 4 years). With this news/rumor I am tempted to buy a few more packs to “put away” but it will be a false economy if they degrade tangibly while stored for 4-5 years.
I have some hi-cap AA eneloops from when they first came out (when they were called XX instead of Pros) and they are still working fine. I think people who get short life out of the hi-caps are charging them too fast. I use a Panasonic BQ CC-17 charger (a slow but dependable smart charger) and I have no problem with short life spans with eneloops.
Hmm. It’s not easy to obtain Ikea batteries in our country since there is no Ikea store in our country…
Ikea has announced plans last year 2020 to open their very first Ikea store in our country by latter part of this year 2021 (hopefully that pushes through).
I wonder if they will still have stocks of these Ladda batteries when they first open their store…
