What blade did you EDC today?

I really like that top knife, what model is it??
The blade shape is nice!! :white_check_mark:

“Infinity”?

@ShyOne yes the model is the "Infinity" :)

@raccoon city ok I understand no problem, I will resize the photos

Edit : photos resized

See? I put my vast sleuthing skills to use.

Thanks for the info Lightbringer & kayasse. :white_check_mark:

That Infinity looks sweet. Love micarta scales. Have you seen the KIZER VANGUARD QUATCH ?

… Except that the “ZDP-189” is probably 3Cr13. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s worth spending another ten bucks to get a Ganzo. Their 440C is usually 440C and tends to outperform 8Cr13Mov.

I’m not sure if you’re joking but: ZDP-189 and Cowry-X - Super Steel or Overrated? - Knife Steel Nerds

Thank you for that link.
Not so much for the ZDP189 text, I’m quite happy with my Spyderco Caly 3, it’s simply the sharpest stainless (?) knife I own with the best initial sharpness, the best wear resistance and the slimmest blade beside my carbon steel work knives. I use it to cut off soles as an orthopedic shoemaker and as long as there’s no metal chips or such in the material this knife cuts like through hot butter (and is extremely good to control, just like cutting with your fingertip).
Anyways, the text about Sandrin knives is even more interesting for me, someday I’ll get myself such a tungsten blade if I can get it for the same price as their red gas station knife

The point is that a “$5 Delica” is almost certainly not a real Delica. You are not going to find ZDP-189 on a $5 knife.

What you are likely to find on a $5 knife is 3Cr13. I tend to be forgiving of knives like the CRK-inspired Land knives from Sanrenmu. Those are available in 12C27, which is a decent steel. They say what they are on the blade. What really bugs me is straight-up counterfeits that purport to be made by another company and stamp the names of higher-quality steels like D2, ZDP-189, M390, etc. on bottom-tier steels like 420 or 3Cr13.

Oh I see what you meant now. It’s possible it’s a fake, but he got it as a TSA confiscated resale. You can find some amazing deals that way if you live near the right airport. Some places have people who know knives look over them to maximize their profits. Some places just want to get rid of them. I once saw a guy post a box he got with a Sebenza in it.

My new Sanrenmu - Land 820 with titanium handle & VG10 blade:

Yeesh!

That handle looks pretty jagged.

Sorry, my dog just chewed it!

Your dog has some strong teeth!

Looks like CRK copy.

Sanrenmu makes a whole bunch of variations of that design in their Land series. The design was obviously inspired by the relevant CRK knives. While the closeness of the overall design bugs me a little, there are key differences. The main ones are that the Land knives I’ve had are all liner-locks that run on bearings. (There is a video somewhere that goes into depth on the differences.) The more common G-10 versions use 12C27 and cost around twenty bucks.

If CRK had a budget version, I might care more than I do now. Especially given that the CRK knives cost more than twenty times as much, or often more than ten times as much for the titanium models, I’m in the economic camp where this doesn’t negatively impact CRK. If anything, positive experiences with the Land series have sparked my interest in CRK.

That said, the Land series based on CRK is surprisingly well-made in my experience. The G-10 models represent some of the best knives in the best steel at their respective price.

I was similarly concerned about the ergonomics on that model. I’d love to get that dog’s dental routine!
