I went ahead and went with the SST-20 4000k for the KR1. Decided to stay on theme of high-cri goodness. I couldn’t find almost anything on the web as far as photos of beam shots from this set up go. I hope I’m happy with it! Im sure I will be.
Oooooh I may have gotten really lucky! According to this post on r/Hanklights, the current bin of SST-20 4000k that Hank has is FD2, which should have a much better tint than the recent bad batch. Fingers crossed! Could I really have gotten lucky enough to start collecting Hanklights right when he gets a big batch of 219b in, and when he gets a good batch of SST-20 4000k??
Btw, thanks for those beam shots, d_t_a!
Edit: Hank did confirm that it’s FD2 bins that are in stock currently, if that helps anyone else make a tough emitter decision
Anybody know what Hank’s Order to ship times are doing at the moment, all my lights from him have been 2 days between, am up to 4 almost 5 now and haven’t seen anything. We’re making him busy I suspect?
I ordered a D4v2 a couple hours after the 219b was listed (about six days ago) and the order is still “processing”. Just have to be patient; I’m sure he’s busy with the influx of orders since the availability of the 219b.
We have one item in the UK warehouse (actually it’s for one Germany customer, but it did not pass the Germany customs due to Brexit).
D4V2, cyan, raised switch retaining ring, XP-L HI 4000K, V2 5D, with extra 10623 frosted optic, the original price is $60.67, now, half of the price, $30, for UK customers only.
Hank, is there any chance to offer more (even exotic) emitter options in the future? I am pretty sure than many of your customers have become loyal completists/collectors of your lights.
My wish list...(to be concluded)
Emitter options:
Nichia E21A 1800K R9080 or R9050...this is as close to real candlelight as it gets
Samsung LH351D (2700K - 6500K, 70CRI - 90CRI)...whereas 90CRI will most likely be favored by most people
Luminus SFT40 6500K 70CRI (or even 5000K once available)...would work great in KR1 or K1
Cree XP-L2 4000K - 5000K...yes, it has horrible tintshift but it's still one of the most efficient emitters and underneath a frosted 10623 or 10624 the artifacts should disappear
Cree XHP50.3 HI 3V...once it becomes available
Cree XP-P...a good opponent to Osram's KW CSLNM1.TG but hopefully available in warmer tints (< 6000K)
Accessories/Miscellaneous:
How about shipping your lights with an Andúril 2 UI diagram, printed on a card or sheet of paper? I made a general one and some customized ones for Sofirn. I could easily derive one that reflects any of your customizations (e.g. direct access to Turbo from Advanced UI). Or you could simply put it onto your website next to the nice pictures of the light. ;) Let me know if you are interested.
For reference...the custom-made Andúril 2 UI diagram for Sofirn's SP36 (Pro) / Q8 (Pro) models
Optional greenish AR-coated lenses (to lower the Duv value and get a more rosy-white tint on LEDs with tendency to greenish-white above the BBL)
I want a hank-light so bad but don’t know what to get or where to start! I don’t ‘need’ anything I have over 50 lights but I just want something good. Is the D4V2 with nichia 219b 3000k the way to go? I’d even get it in brass, maybe copper. What’s got a real nice tint & is just an awesome Hank light? I bought 2 dive lights last night so I’m on a binge.
