I was thinking of picking up one of the midsize Zebralights at some point and I’m having a hard time deciding between the versions with floody and clear optics. Does anyone have a floody lens zebralight beamshot to compare to a clear one? It would help a lot. BTW I am aware that the two lights in my post have different LEDs and max outputs. I’m really just trying to figure out how throw I would be missing out on and/or how ugly the beam might be on the clear lens version.
With the clear lens version you can always add DC Fix or another diffusion material later. You can’t un-frost the lens of the “F” models without some serious effort and know-how.
I get what you’re saying but I hate to add something like that. It’d be applied with adhesive right? :confounded: I’d rather figure out what I was getting ahead of time and choose whichever one is best for me.
No, there are “static cling” versions which adhere well with just a bit of water (or your breath) on the lens, and which are removeable at any time. I get your thinking too, but IMO the ability to change between frosted and clear at will is a big gain to utility.
Some beamshots here, the frosted version is the earlier gen using the XHP50 (NOT .2) but is still pretty representative of the the Mk IV will be like:
