I’ve seen it a few times, but every time I watch it amazes me. Richard Feynman was a brilliant mind and great teacher.
Watching him explaining things make them really easy to understand.
“Thriller” and especially “Horror” are the two descriptions about the movie you’ll find all over the net. If it’s horror, it might get creepy somewhere. So I didn’t post any real spoiler… no more than you can find by just reading the info/plot about Hunter Hunter. But I got your point. Will be more careful in the future when writing comments.
One Cut of the Dead (2017)
(Japanese audio with English subs)
It’s a comedy about the making of a 30 minute zombie movie live and in one cut for television. It had some pretty funny moments but fell a little short for me. I don’t think I’ll be watching any more comedies that I need to read subtitles for. It definitely mars the experience for me. I think comedy is something best experienced in a language you know.
This movie struck me as a John Wick cash-in. I’m not against that necessarily if it means we get more movies with great action choreography and cool world-building. But this movie doesn’t have the same world-building and something about the violence in this one just felt….mean, for lack of a better word. I didn’t think “wow cool” like I did for most of the John Wick action.
I also didn’t really like the main character because he seemed like a violence-obsessed douchebag who was meant to personify “toxic masculinity”. Maybe I’m not supposed to like him, idk. It did seem like this movie was halfheartedly trying to deconstruct what makes us enjoy movies like John Wick. I didn’t appreciate that because it seemed like the movie makers were trying to wash their hands of the movie while they were making it.
Yea Snyder’s explanation for the 4:3 ratio is BS though. He said it was planned that way from the beginning. If you compare scenes from the two movies you can clearly see that the Snyder Cut was cropped for a lot of scenes. Visual information was lost.
The Snyder Cut was 100x better than the 2017 cut in terms of plot and action. The sequel-bait ending ruined the experience for me somewhat. Let me enjoy the happy ending Snyder! Spiderman Far From Home did the same thing in it’s after-credits scene. That shit pisses me off.
If I buy the Snyder Cut on Blu-ray, every time I watch it I’m gonna turn it off before that stupid post-apocalyptic endingtrailer.
Eye-candy sets, costumes, and actors. Some decent action. Pretty mediocre plot. Acting is a mixed bag. I own this on 4k just for the eye candy.

Conan abandons the love-interest at the end. This is really shitty and unrealistic. It was shitty because he probably got her pregnant and then just left. It’s unrealistic because no man in their right mind would abandon 2011 Rachel Nichols!
Re-watched this last night. I kept noticing that a recurring part of the soundtrack sounded like the Star Trek theme with some tweaking. Sure enough, Michael Giacchino did the score for both movies. It’s a bit distracting because I like the Star Trek (2009) theme and the starting and stopping was giving me the musical equivalent of blue balls.
Still, Doctor Strange is not a bad Marvel movie. The acting is stellar and the casting is good. Not much complexity in the plot or character motivations but it has enough spectacle to make up for it if you are in the mood.
