review : TrustFire Minix————————————————————-==
- i like these things
it;s very light and small.
==way smaller that it looked, almost same size as a 9v battery
seems very well made.
mine is pretty purple.
has a uv light.
has usb-c charging
comes with a cable - to regular usb.
- it also works with real usb (some other lights do not - WUBEN!)
nice neutral white beam color
nices spot+flood pattern - very useful
the charge light is inside the switch button
it comes on when you short-press button, does not waste power otherwise
it remembers the last white light mode, which i like.
seems like this light would be very waterproof and shock proof.
the low-power light comes on when the light steps down to the lowest level - which is good, because it warns you it;s about to die
- the slightly bad feature is, though, that it stays blinking, which may run the battery down below its
death voltage, though i am not going do that, since i do not want it to die - maybe that would stop eventually, before death point, but i do not know
- if you try to turn it on with the red light blinking, it will start on lowest level
— later the main led will also blink
—— and while the main is on, or blinking, the red light is on also - which is good
it charged fully in about an hour, 280mah went in via the usb-c port
—it may have kept trickling, i unplugged when i saw it was green
0000000000000000000000000 just comments neither good or bad 00000000000
uv has no brightness control
charge port cover looks like it might come off eventually.
i thought it had both red and blue leds, but it only has one, mine has UV
uv can flash, not sure that is useful but ok…
it is hard to feel where the switch is, in the dark or a pocket
i feel like usb-C is still uncommon, might be better to use micro-usb or apple connectors
no pocket clip.
——————- room for improvements ——————
user interface - i would rather have a short click for on, and a hold for level change.
—this is the opposite, you may like it, many other lights work this way
uv light is typical one that has a lot of visible blue
— a filter is necessary for serious uv use
uv is not really very bright
no tailstanding, tail has the keychain loop.
battery not replaceable, of course.
