Is a quad possible in an S2+ or are you just creating too much heat at that point?
I don’t think you can find a quad optic that will fit an S2. Maybe make a quad mule?
What gauge of silicone wire should I get to build a triple?
also is there any reason not to just get this: http://kaidomain.com/Triple-Nichia-219BT-LED-Emitter-with-KDLITKER-20mm-x-1_5mm-DTP-Copper-MCPCB-Parallel-w-optics and then now have to reflow emitters onto a mcpcb?
As far as I can tell 219BT and 219B are the same chips
Afaik is different CRI…
Are you sure? The 4500k option says CRI 92…
Also the Nichia website only lists the 219bt-v1 part, there’s nothing for 219b. I think it’s the same chip and the T is just not always used
Oh, sorry. I checked the AliX store lol
Ah thanks for that, will buy the LEDs from Simon then.
Can anyone recommend good types of solder paste and flux that are available in the uk?
This may be a dumb question, and if so I apologize; but what do you do with “25 Triple/Quads”?
Why have so many?
Please excuse my obvious ignorance, but I am trying to learn. What is a “quad mule”?
Because I’m an Addict :confounded:
A “mule” is any light that does not have a reflector nor an optic for the led’s. Pure floodlight.
an example.
JenkinsMatti: chops728:Watch out it’s addictive — I think I have some where around 25 Triple/Quads

Well, you said it. Far from me to argue.

Thank you for a straight forward answer that is easily understood.
Much of this terminology is beyond my understanding until explained.
If I might ask, what brand lights are those in your picture?? I like the look of them.

What is a “quad mule”?
quad means 4 leds
mule mean there is no reflector, and no TiR optic, just the bare led(s), protected only by a flat glass lens
the mule beam is unrestricted, and diffuses a very wide beam of light:
mule on left: (my mule has only one LED)

Emisar is the brand.
(Not my picture. I found it online))Emisar is from https://intl-outdoor.com/led-flashlights.html
Thank you for the information.
Parts are all ordered for my build now still need to get a few tools and some solder paste at some point but the parts will take a while to arrive from china

Thank you for the reply and the pictures for illustration. The pictures really help in visualizing the explanation.
