Sofirn SF47 Reviews? (4xSST40 light)

I held my brother’s and was impressed by the feel in hand and the output. Does anyone have measured output values for this light? Runtime graphs? I’m sorely tempted to buy one after holding it. Seems like an ideal light for taking walks.

I own one! I don't have graphs of runtimes and similar things. However, for general uses, I like my Convoy L7 most. The L7 is superbly balanced for long walks and has a lot of runtime.

For a smaller walk-around light or, use in a dark motel parking lot, I find the Convoy S12 to be a handier option.

That being said, the Quad-Emitter Sofirn SF47 is a good light but, I think for most people it is too specialized unless you already have a bunch of flashlights and want to fill this nitch. The Convoy L21B with the GT-FC40 emitter or Astrolux FT03 are both worth consideration for your use as well IMHO.

SF47 Review

SF47 can hold constantly only 1000 lumen. For comoarison, single XHL70.2 can 1700 in this body.

That doesn’t sound right. I have one and it doesn’t seem to step down on the high setting which is nominally 3000 lumens. It’s supposed to be temperature-based though so maybe you are just running it in a warmer environment?

This thread is about the SF47, not the SF47T btw.

I've got both of these lights. I find they are both a bit specialized for general utility. The 4 emitter one has a pretty good hot spot for me with an adequate flood so, I tend to favor it a bit more. For such a small reflector, the other one certainly has good throw but, I do find the beam to be a little "tight" for a lot of my uses.

I have a Thrunite Catapult V6 (XHP35 Hi) which hits 1700 lumens but has a timed step-down to 950 lumens. I’m wondering whether or not the SF47T might be an upgrade since it can theoretically maintain the 1500 lumens as long as it is cool enough. Thoughts?

I really like my SF47 so far. The High level is perfect for walking at night and I can bump it to turbo to check something out that’s further away. I really like the 2 x 21700 form factor as well. I think the UI is good and the light feels very solidly built. I’m able to overlook the 6500k light temperature and the flower petal beam profile. I’m kinda curious about maybe swapping in some SFT40 emitters someday.

I know this thread is really a Sofirn oriented one but, for what you have and what you describe, I will toss out the Convoy L7 as a viable alternative.

I'm a huge Sofirn and Convoy fan so, call me a bit biased if you want.

I find the dual 26650 battery tube with its larger head/reflector makes the L7 a VERY BALANCED flashlight in terms of output and form factor. In lights like this, to be honest, I think the SF47/SF47T head is a bit small for optimal efficiency and balance. The smaller head is really good though for throwing in a backpack as it fits and carries well in an umbrella holder or similar "slot" for things like an axe handle or simple campfire cooking tripod.

The Convoy L7 is interesting and I’ve looked at it before, but I think it’s a different class of lights from the SF47 series. It’s in a totally different price bracket and is significantly larger as well.

I want to get an sbt 90.2 light eventually but I’m not sure how I feel about the UI on the L7. Having only four modes (1, 10, 35, 100) seem fairly restrictive. I also don’t think a light with that much mass should have a tailswitch TBH. I saw a video on Youtube (yours maybe?) where a guy was talking about how much he loved the ergonomics though. If money was no object I’d probably just buy one to check it out. I haven’t really decided on a super-thrower yet.
