I got into the hobby this year so my collection is small with just a D4SV2 and D4, but the D4S is significant to the D4V2 in every way from ergonomics to my use cases.
D4V2
SST-20 4000 with stock Fex +1 driver
Pocket rocket with too much spill to evenly light a path more than 20 feet in front of me. The 18350 tube is sooo cute though and it will be a great work light with its magnetic base.
D4SV2
W2 6K with 9A + CC linear driver
Even ramping, power for days of dog walking. I think I can get to medium high (5/7) before the driver switches to the CC, which means that I get an extremely bright, usable, throwy beam for as long as the voltage lasts in the battery without it getting hot and dropping current.

The Osrams run pretty hot. There’s also no way the D4Sv2 is thermally staple anywhere near the top of the CC output – 9A, so 27+ Watts
The nice thing is, in general the anduril temperature ramp is so gentle you don’t seem to notice it

I have a Mateminco MT70 Mini SFN55.2 coming in for a landing in about 2 days.
Got the SamSung 30T’s warming up.
Getting a mean hunch this light will make my favorite list.
FWAA as of now with convoy sw45k swap. It has become my flood edc. Carried in pocket w/o clip and mechanical lockout.
Not necessarily totally new to 2021, buy my continuously tweaked TIR FW1A is still my all time hero. This year it got a SS bezel, LEDIL Leila RS, and FD2 sst20. Nearly perfect.
A shorty tube for the FW3C with cyan glow gasket and tail cap. Apart from the chunky lumpy feeling in a pocket, it is my favourite light for general, bedside nip to the loo type edc.
Edit: Total fail from me having read the OP again, sorry.
This light deserves a mention because I had no interest in it until I held my brother’s. The 6500k color tint was undesirable to me and I thought the lumen claims seemed dubious. But this light feels amazing in the hand (2 * 21700 form factor) and feels satisfyingly sturdy. The claimed 9000 lumen turbo may or may not be the full 9000 (I have no way of checking) but I can tell you the results are impressive. The high mode doesn’t seem to step down (claimed 3000 lumens) and I typically walk around outside with that mode. In general, I love the mode spacing on this light for an outdoors focused light. If it came in a 5000k tint I’d love it even more but this light is great. Easily my sleeper-hit of 2021
Best EDC Light – Emisar D4V2
Grey, steel bezel, amber switch, tail magnet, e21a 2700k
I find myself grabbing this light for EDC a lot because I feel so mellow looking at it and using it. I also got one in black with a red switch and XPL-HI 5000k emitters that’s a strong runner-up.
Best Jacket Pocket Light – Zebralight SC700D
Disappears in a jacket pocket and has killer sustained output for its size. There’s something magical about the knurling on this light too. I just love holding it.
My vote goes to Noctigon K9.3 SST-20 4000/2700. Plenty bright and small enough to carry it with me. The second place is WildTrail WT1M, but recently I noticed high parasitic drain and won’t use it until I fix it.
Astrolux FT02s for having a good balance of flood and throw. Also pretty powefull with 4xXHP50.2 leds. Ergonomics also great with 3 types of battery. Well balanced weight. Heat dissipation is also better than on smaller Astrolux EA01s. Comes with Anduril that we all love.
I think for me, for new releases, it was the Lumintop FWAA but the little Wild Trail WT3M was a very nice surprise. If I were to judge based on the number of new cells I bought, it would have to be the FWAA.
Not new, but I also picked up a Noctigon KR4 and like that one an awful lot. Given that I had three extended power outages this year, the most useful light by far ended up being the Convoy M3C simply due to its output and fantastic run times at low-but-useful light levels. Least impressive to me were a couple from Wurkkos and Olight but they’re both still good lights.
My “2021 lights” are not from 2021
My most used lights are the:
- On The Road 311 (EDC, modified)
- Olight Warrior Mini (EDC)
The one that surprised me the most was the Imalent MS18, which is not from 2021 as well.
2021 flashlights that I was happy to have:

Best: Zebralight SC64w HI. Incredible quality, size and beam.
Favourite: Malkoff MD2/M61 with Hi/Lo. Just love this one, around the house and in the forest. Usually carry the Zebralight as back-up.
Most fun, and best EDC: Emisar D4V2 SST-20 4000K 95CRI. Can do it all. Beautiful beam and tint. Most carried.

Wuben E6,
Being a pocket rocket that can powered by 14500 or AA battery
Convoy M26c with GT-FC40.
Wildtrail WT90
Power, style, a big that's surprising lightweight.
Zebralight SC700d still at the top of my list.
This one is up there for me too. Very pleasant beam and tint.
