Taotronics, and its sister brands (Ravpower, Vava) belong to one of the companies given the ban hammer by Bezos for soliciting good reviews in return for favors.
It has sneaked back on, using a new pseudonym, with some products, but unless this one is part of that effort, probably not.
The sad history and state of the Amazon review system is a whole topic of its own, but suffice it to say, some of the flashlight brands we know and love might have reason for concern if Amazon suddenly finds religion again.
I was wondering why Ravpower was no longer on Amazon. I have several of their powerbanks and USB cables and think they are very good.
Edit…
For that price, it was worth the gamble. I just placed my order for one. And yes, the code worked for $19 plus tax and shipping, came out to $24.60 total. Not bad. This will be great for when I’m in the garage or driveway working on the cars.
I picked one up, hopefully it’s worth a hoot. Does anyone know if the 12” is the cage width or actual blade diameter?
A bit concerning that a device with so many lithium-ion cells does not appear to be labeled anywhere with standard li-ion caution language – the manual that is available for download from their website does not give any cautions whatsoever, nor is the word lithium mentioned a single time. I don’t know if that UL cert number is valid…appears to belong to another company in China but could be the same. Don’t see any other cert symbols on the unit, media, or manual. They seem to lean on that FCC interference thing instead.
Hopefully Sunvalleytec Int’l and the heads of their many sub-brands figure out how to fairly and legally participate in the markets of the countries they do business in (and looking at other lawsuits, also figure out how not to infringe on patents and such…). They have some good products.
Did anyone see anything about the power supply for recharging? Like voltage/current for output. Connector? I HAVE SO MANYDAMNWALLWARTS… THX
It’s a wall wart with a barrel connector…rubber flap for the port on the right side of the box. Manual states 110-240 input with DC 30V output, 24W. 0.8A consumption on the fan label. Apparently it will operate under wall wart power, too, which is nice.
Not sure if the cells are in series or parallel (30V adapter suggests series, which is kinda scary), but worst case, if there’s any issue with the cells, I can pull ‘em and work directly off the adapter.
Gawd, what an annoying website, though. That coupon box (which dumps piles of 3rd-party cookies on you) that pops up Every Single Time was getting me on-edge to the point I was almost about to ditch the transaction entirely.
Still, looks like a solid fan. Goggled it on amazon, looks pretty nifty. I’m assuming 22hrs runtime is not going full-tilt, eh?
This is one of the images from the Walmart listing. First one I’ve seen with a good comparison for the size. Looks like the perfect size for what I need it for. Glad I bought one.
I wonder what type of cells it uses? I couldn’t find an answer online. From the reviews, it seems to run about 1.5 hours at the highest setting on a full charge and much longer at reduced power. I assume these are NOS (new old stock), so the cells could be quite old and no longer hold a full charge. I ordered one, so I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

Definitely a great deal, though, so I’m stoked.
The potential of a 7S cell arrangement using cheap old re-wrapped cells made be cringe. Hopefully it uses a decent BMS.

I did some research on Amazon.
A similar fan with good feedback would be at least $50 a piece, so if TaoTronics cancels my order, and I think they probably will, I'll just go without a nice rechargeable fan.
I’m at a loss as to why there’d be the offer, with code, and then everyone’s order gets canceled.
It was explicitly spelled out it’s 20bux per, so it’s not an “oops, wrong coupon, we’re gonna take a bath on these of we honor the price!” or anything like that.
I’m hoping Mr Tao comes back here and ‘splains what’s going on, ‘cause this kind of thing can permanently poison a company’s rep.
Now! $19 + taxes & shipping with same code.

Interesting, for $25 shipped it seems worth the gamble.

Thanks for the tip!
Yep … excellent deal.

That review/coercion thing turned into something much bigger: https://www.classaction.org/news/class-action-alleges-sunvalleytek-offer...

Not at a price like this but there are three listings of the same fan. Search the mAh + fan and they’ll come up.
Ordered one, thanks
I guess they’re trying to get rid of the current stock with those brand names? Taotronics makes quality stuff, its a shame if they go down like this.
Just recently I shared several codes for generic looking powerbanks in the amazon deal thread and they turn out to be real RAVpower stuff.

30V huh? Well at least it is not a duplicate of one of the other100+ adapters I already have…
For anyone not finding the manual… as I could not find a link to it on the product page ( found it with a google search on the model number):
Fan Manual
Thanks and Thanks
Awesome!
I ordered three for a total of $57 plus tax.
If the power goes out in the summer, my family will be much better off with these fans.

Here's the Amazon listings for, I guess, the clones...
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NKVWHYC
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NM31YX3
There's not a lot of customer reviews, but they're mostly positive.
EDIT:
Here it is on Walmart.

The feedback on Walmart is so good it looks "too good to be true."
Even so, it looks like an excellent deal.

The 16” listing at the Amazon link above uses the same image so it might be smaller then that.
Amazon buyer answered the size question … The fan itself is 18“H, 16” W and 9” deep. With the handles it measures 20” H, 20“W and 9“D.
I’d assume a 16” cage would house 12” blades.
Thanks, tammap! This looks like a great deal.

I received mine yesterday, pretty nice for $25.
