absolutely! I have updated all of my D1 and D1s with the 7.5amp Linear drivers and they're great. No FET needed, they push osrams, sft40 and xpl-hi really nicely!
Man, I had such a hard time letting my D1 go last year. I’d love to see an updated version. I’ve been asking for a D4 sized single emitter light for years.
D1 if offered with a boost driver, 519A 4000-4500k in green is on my list. Hopefully Hank brings back the original Emisar green.
On another note, I have a boost driver D4 with a lighted switch. I noticed that when ramping the switch brightness goes from low to high. In Anduril that used to correspond to cutover points from regulation to FET, but what does it mean on a boost driver?
Ah, rats, maybe I was thinking of a buck/boost like what Skilhunt or Zebralight does? Or are they just CC like Hanks newer non 7135 based drivers? I sort of lost track of driver understanding when the newer regulated drivers came out.
The current 3V drivers are linear+FET , but with discrete component instead of 7135 chips, higher regulated current and no PWM, and boost : 2A12V for most configurations and 3.6A6V for B35AM.
Zebralight used to have buck-boost drivers but now they use buck for 3V LEDs.
The D1v2 looks great! However, it seems like a missed opportunity not to have an RGB switch like the K1. With a reflector and no AUX, it would be nice to have the switch represent the voltage/temp/etc., and I think the driver should have the extra pins to allow for that. Although not sure how hard it would be to wire in the small host… Maybe something for a D1v3
