nope.
I don’t own it, but that light does not seem to be designed specifically for throw, which is the only thing a smooth reflector will gain you. There is also the consideration that a smooth reflector may reveal crappy looking rings in the beam or other artifacts. I’d save my money and put it toward something with a large, deep reflector, if throw is really what you want. No point in spending money to make one hell of a great all-around outdoor light into a mediocre dedicated thrower. Just my two lumens.
The Thrunite TN31, I just love it and what a throw beast.
Shorter fatter body with 3 x 18650 in a battery carrier in parallel.
Nice cool white clean beam with 6 levels including moonlight up to 1147 lumens plus strobe and it still fits in my back pocket.
I have the Olights M3X, SR50, SR51, SR90, M30, Fenix TK70, Crelant 7G5 V2 with Aspheical Head, Dereelight DBS-T EZ900 Aspherical and many more but this TN31 is a little beast.
All of my torches are great in their own ways.
My EDC is an ITP A3 EOS upgraded 3 level 90 lumens AAA flashlight and I have a Zebralight (600 lumen) SC600 in a Custom Made Thorshammer leather holster that also has a spare 18650 compartment.
So I don’t suppose it would be worthwhile pursing an SR51 smooth reflector.
How does the TN31 do against the 7G5-V2 W/ aspherical head? You don’t happen to have any beamshots comparing the TN31 to any of your other lights?
Thanks,
Rick
If I had the collection you have, I’d rather spend that sum in the attempt of making one of my already favorite lights perfect than use it on another new flashlight that couldn’t contribute much to my flashaholic experience.
That reflector is expensive, no doubt, but such is the law of diminishing returns…
I have the 7G5-V2 with the Aspherical Head and was curious how it compared to the TN31, I also have the Dereelight DBS-T Aspherical EZ900 and the beam on the 7G5-V2 w/AH and it’s beam is alot more useful than the tiny beam of the DBS, but I still like them both. I want the TN31 that’s why I was asking, just more money than I have right now. Thank you for getting back to me.
Rick
I wouldn’t…even if you get 3000 more lux you will never notice unless you take pictures…our eyes suck…20$ towards another light seems better suited to me…
