Ultrafire XM-L 3 mode P60 drop in from Manafont

LOL I can't wait to show him the difference between the XML and the CREE Q5 that's in the UltraFire WF-502B I gave him. Maybe I should get him a different P60 host so he can still use the Q5 instead of having a p60 drop-in just lying around.

I just drop mine into the solarforce l2i too today! Got the body more than a month ago, only got the drop-in last week and the cells today...wow..XML...really really impresive but it's getting warmer and warmer by the minute even after foil wrap around.

after seeing the stats on the xml anything above 2.8a isn't really beneficial and will just generate more heat..reason why I am leaving my 2.8a driver alone and not bumping it to 3.1a etc..at 3.4a heat is going to be a major factor..hell even at 2.8a it's a big factor lol

Someone did mention that the sweet spot is around 2,4A driven XM-L for a smallish flashlight like p60 hosts.

yeah if you look at arenat's measurements it's pretty clear anything over 2.6a isn't doing much other than adding heat and very little lumens..not worth it in a p60 host..

I finally got a yellow padded envelope in the mail today and noticed it was from Manafont. I knew it was the 2 - Ultrafire Cree T6 3-Mode Memory LED Drop-in's I ordered last month on 2-24 so up the stairs I go. Opened up the package:

2 - Ultrafire (sku 5720) plastic boxes with xml p60 drop-in = CHECK

I put the 1st one in my UF-502B with freshly charged TF flame, turned it on and what a bright friggin' light = CHECK

Started to switch modes = FAIL = they sent me a single mode. Yell

Checked on the 2nd one = FAIL = another single mode YellYellYell

Oh well, it was just too good to bet true right?

Now I start the friggin' return process bulls**t YellYellYell

I should've spent the extra money and got a Thrunite xml from SBFlashlights or some other stateside company. F**k, F**k, F**k, F**k, F**k.....

This s**t just pisses me off more so today than any other.......

:( damn sorry to hear fishinfool!! What kind of tailcap current are they pulling on the single modes? You must admit, it IS nice to see that light come out of the front. There is definitely a ton of it :D

I guess its a game we play when ordering from china. Never know for sure what you'll recieve. Perhaps thats part of the fun? Although it sucks HARD when it doesn't work out.

Oh, and by the way, Lighthound is cheaper (If you order over $75 for free shipping) and Thrunite is coming out with neutral ones!!!!!

It's ok though. I was just having a really crappy afternoon so this manafont wrong order just pushed me off the edge.

Anyway, I got 2 different readings from my protected TF 2400 flames and my protected AW 2200's so I am topping them off and will try again.

The first readings were: AW = 3.70 amps and TF = 3.45 amps I'll post the new numbers after the top off charge.

I think I'll order from lighthound as soon as they get them back into stock.

I was all set to make an order from them, $80, when I found out they were coming out with neutrals, so I have to wait....

I am looking forward to your results as I am considering a single mode for weapon light myself.

I hope, my XM-L will arrive as soon as possible (order date. 22. Feb) and it will be the correct one (three mode Hi, mid, low). I order 3 of them and it would be a big disappointment for me, if they were only one mode drop-ins. I have none XM-L light until now and my host are waiting for a bright drop-in.

Just got mine today. Ordered Jan 24, today is March 16. It took way longer than typical dx and kd orders. Tail cap measurments are 2.64amps, 0.79 amps, and 0.14amps. I'm disapointed that it doesn't get over 3 amps. I see some people claim they get a full amp over what i get. This is with a trustfire black flame battery fully charged. Tested it with 4 different batteries and the results are consistant.

old4570 - Man, that gunmetal L2 is a killer looking light. I've been waiting for my manafont XM-L to arrive for (it seems like) forever.

Dont worry about current in , what counts is output . You may have a drop in less 300Lumens of sag [ wasted current ]

OK just installed my OP reflector from Manafont in my Solarforce L2 with the Manafont 3 mode and ...

What a disappointment ! The shallow hole in the hotspot is gone , but in it's place now there's a distinct wide purple ring at the edge of the spill !

The original reflector produces a much better beam .

Oh well , at least the OP reflector only costs $3.00

Edit : I posted some beamshots in the budget light subforum over at CPF . ( I haven't figured out how to post pics here yet )

I just received a 3-mode that tops out at 1.4A pretty much on the button. Same reading with both an AW 2200 and a Black TF 2400. The difference in output against the XP-G module it replaced is barely noticeable.

I built a copper shim & foil wrap to manage the heat all for nothing. Bah...

I received the Manafont Ultrafire 3-mode XML dropin late last week and it maxes out around 3.25 A at the tailcap on high (though occasionally as high as 3.4 A (when warm?)), so it seems some have excellent draw, though maybe some do not.

Some of the lower rated dropins are probably due to DMM lead issues, some due to dropin variance, but some might also be due to battery differences. I tested with a 4.19 V 18650 AW 2900 mAh battery, fresh off the charger. After some use and rechecking the next day, the battery voltage drops and the tailcap reading drops to about 2.85 A. There are also some lower quality or defective 18650 batteries that won't supply 3.4 A.

I got 3 of the XML drop-ins last week.

2 of them have only 1,45A on high, one 1,54A.

I test them with some 4,19 Volt ICR18650 - 24E Samsung batteries.

I check it with a cheap multimeter. In 2 days I will recheck it with a Fluke multimeter of a friend.
