Why not? If they’d be ~3V, they’d be hard to regulate from 1 cell… with 12V, and a boost driver, you can drain 1 cell fully, staying in full regulation all the time.
Nice, seems they are attacking bridgelux territory. Efficiency numbers are quite good but CRI90 still takes large performance hit and they are hiding R9 numbers as snake it’s legs…
Perhaps a driver meant for multi-XR-E applications. They usually run in series and only use between 1 and 1.5A. Should meet your voltage and amperage requirements.
Ahh… seems Cree was good on their statement about releasing a 200lm/W LED before 2013 after all.
I read an article earlier this year about Cree LEDs…. and the representative stated they would have a 200lm/W LED released before 2013. For a moment I though perhaps they were referring to the XML-2 but it had fallen short.
So the numbers for this at 25°C would be ~2000lm at 15W? Looks like the SST-90 has competition
I definitely am happy to see this, pretty awesome seeing a 200 lumen/watt component hit the streets. This coupled with the XM-L2 give a pretty good 1-2 high end punch.
