Put me down 4 1 thanks - My call would be 1 battery (with a spare 2 batt tube maybe) firmer to press instant on/off button, stop the strobe coming on so easily when changing modes.
BTW thought I’d mention that I bought the JM26, a guy at work fell in love and had to have it so I sold it to him, he also wanted to buy one for his brother so I ordered two more (one for me) but the new ones I got IU was back to front L/M/H instead of original H/M/L strange?
Thanks for the interest, i thought this thread had died
For those that missed it, i modded my SL3 to 9Amps after reading this thread about the JM26 and asking a few members who mod, how to go about it. Shadow JM26 Driver (Place for more AMC7135)
The thought did cross my mind, but i didn’t feel my job was tidy enough to sell. I was going to buy a second SL3 to have another go at making it neater, but haven’t got round to it.
Nice part of the world your in Glenn I’ve relations in Tasmania.
Yes I love Tassie its a very safe and free place to live, we only have half a mil on the whole island - I live just out of Hobart - when are you coming to visit ;D
I have faith in you bud, I would be happy to pay you to do my light - I don’t care how it looks inside (even if the the soldering looks like chicken poo
Yeah, i’ve heard great things about Tassie. I might even be tempted to emigrate there as there is no work here in Ireland. Australia/Tassie is great for Electricians at the moment i believe, not to mention the better climate
If the group buy doesn’t work out, i might put my soldering skills to the test
Because the SL3 is quite substantial and weighty, it handles the 9amps quite nicely. It still steps down, so it works out well as its just getting hot and the level drops.
The switch still works as normal.
I had some issues with faulty chips, and possibly other unknown factors running 12 extra chips at just over 9amps. I settled at 11 extra chips running around 8.7amps reliably.
again, depending on price and how quick this can be done, im in. always wanted a triple and always wanted a shadow… why not a limited run triple shadow?
I don’t have anymore info on a possible production run 9A SL3, as this thread was just testing the water. I got curious after seeing the circuit board and finding out it was the perfect candidate for extra AMC chips, so had a go at making my own 9A version.
Yeah, this Is the perfect balance of flood and throw for me. It lights up everything around me, and still has a concentrated hotspot that throws really well.
At the moment, the SL3 drops down based on voltage sag(as far as i know). The time before drop down varies between cells.
Its several minutes even @ 9A, and at which stage, the light is hot.
