I know a lot of people have moved on from this light but it really isn’t bad and for people who don’t like the soup can sized lights this is a pretty good deal.

Oh and for $5 you can order a DRY driver from fancy flashlights and get four modes and no blinkies plus it’s a lot brighter.
Well apparently you need to check and see how the emitters are wired for this mod to work. A dry driver needs to be wired in series not parallel.

LED’s are in parralel, DRY is in series.
I just upped the current in mine to 9 amps

Really? There must be more than one setup then, because I did mine a long time ago with a dry and had no problems at all. Thanks for posting that.

Nice find. Thanks for reporting it.
I still use mine. It's a great workhorse. The original driver in these lights (not all have it anymore) is a very special driver. You can use 1 to 3 cells and resister mod for higher current. With the good memory, you don't have to cycle through the other modes unless you want to change modes. With the tube extension (looks like this doesn't include it), you can run the light on 4 AA Eneloops just fine.
If I had to chose one light to keep, I would seriously consider the TR-3T6 with the original 3T6 driver and the extension tube.
Now that you say that, if this deal did include the tube, I’d be clicking ‘Buy’ right now.
I received a Costco AA eneloop package recently and have been looking for something inexpensive to use them in.
I’ve been watching the 3*LED drop-ins and haven’t found them much cheaper than this light. It’s even cheaper if you are willing to gamble on 88% feedback vendor. :Sp
Nice thing about this one is it’s fulfilled by Amazon so it’s in their warehouse. And if you don’t like it they will let you send it back and pay for the shipping and everything. I bought a cyclops that came in and didn’t work right, they sent UPS to pick it up the next day and refunded my money in about a week. Didn’t cost me a dime.

Cool

I have Amazon Prime so I went ahead with the purchase. I have wanted one of these fro awhile but never did get one. I suck a modding so If it's not a 'Good' one with the proper driver I want to be able to send it back!
nice ill be checking back on this thread
Yes it is a good one! Mine is almost flawless in finish. Double O rings, Dry, but all there.Glass lens no prints or chips. I cannot seem to get to the driver but it is nicely built. Mine came with an extension so I am using 3 Panasonic protected 18650's. Heats up noticeably on High after a minute.
Nice that is a great light that price well it’s a great light anyway. Glad you got a good one.

How much do these usually go for?
Congrats bikenber73. You should be able to use one of the tubes by itself to hold just one cell. See if it works that way. In stubby mode, it's not much bigger than a C8.
Lightmalls has been selling them with the extension tube for $31.50 for a long time. That's where I got mine.

EDIT: I think they charge shipping below a certain amount.
Oh reeeeeally??? Hmmm….
For $29 it could be here tomorrow…. 8)
How are the LEDs mounted? It would be nice if you could swap to 3 noctigons or something
The tube that screws into the head is longer than an 18650, so 1 is not an option.
Leds are mounted like in a SRK and lots of other similar type lights.
-Get driver circuit out.
-Unscrew the bezel and take out lens.
-Unscrew the screw holding reflector
-Then you have access to the emitters. MCPCBs are normally 16mm (the stock ones might be quite stuck though).

Thanks, I just ordered one. Aluminum mounted T6s are weak these days, so I might swap them all for noctigons later.
What specific seller did you buy from?
Thanks

One of the tubes should be shorter. You may be thinking it is part of tube that has the "Trustfire TR-3T6" label on it. That tube piece should have a knurled section after the lable, but not before. The knurled section before the label is a separate, shorter section.
EDIT: The extension tube should have 2 knurled sections. The short tube will have one knurled section.
EDIT2: OK, looked at my light. You can't get 1S config with the stock tubes. At least, not without a spacer. Sorry for the confusion.
Has anyone tried to run this light on one cell? I'm wondering if the driver in this light can run on 1S.
The driver will allegedly work down to 0.8V. AFAIK it has been confirmed to work on a single cell but you need some kind of spacer as there is ~25mm of space, so use your longest cell!
Although, I do not understand why you would want to run this thing on 1 cell. On high mode with 2 fresh cells I see ~2.25A on the tail, with 3 ~1.75A.
It is not going to last very long with 1 cell!
Why?, because it's more compact and I rarely use my lights on high. On low with one cell is uses about 200mA. Quite efficient for the amount of light it puts out. But mainly, if it runs on one cell, that tells me it has the "good" driver. The driver is tough and have some good flexability and can easily run it on Ni_mh cells.
Again… Those of you who bought one from Amazon, what seller did you purchase from? Thanks
