I decieded to mess around with my TK70 today and got some pleasing results! First off the light was upgraded with XML2-U2 LEDs a few months ago and I was pleased but not completely happy. Here we go…
First I played with a few different resistors and never got above 2800ma to the dies with the Tenergy 10000mah D cells.
It was brighter but still not bright enough!
I then bridged the sense resistors over and put 3 26650 flames to it. I got 5.75A to the emitters now. I think I’m happy now! It gets hot quick. I may pot the driver so it will last. I havent yet checked temps since this mod was done just 10 minutes ago. Haha. I will update when my 32650 flames get here amd I can run the light fully assembled. I cant wait for beam shots!
I have had this light since about 2008? Maybe it was 2009. I dont remember. I had problems with it a couple years after I got it. It would flicker and turn off by it self. It was a PITA getting it apart. I ruined the stock T6 emitters when I took it apart. So I upgraded to xml2-u2 emitters. I couldnt stop there! Haha!
I got it put back together and measured lux at 10 meters. I got 2190 lux. I used (3) 26650 flames I made a short filler with a piece of brass to get the contact in the battery tube. I did measure current at the emitters with the light assembled and it was 5.1A. Probably because of the extra resistance of the brass spacer. Beam shots tonight! (Still daylight here)
There it is. I barely got one shot in. Camera battery died. Im charging the battery in the camera. I will probably fall asleep before it charges. I been up since 4:45 this morning!
