Not listed here are our fellow enthusiasts from the other fora world-wide who ordered directly to Gearbest without posting in BLF/CPF. They now comprise a lot more than the ones listed here.
I heard there could be a production revision with some of the issues HKJ spoke of fixed, is this that version or is it the same thing he reviewed? Sorry for the thread clutter, but this decides whether I’m in or not.
Thanks for that info. Since no one has confirmed the shipping units have the new firmware and (more importantly) it hasn’t been tested, I’ll pass. Thanks for offering this great deal though!
I just want to inform you guys that I spoke with Banggood and they WILL NOT be able to match this price on the Powerfocus BC3100, and lowest he can go is $43, so it looks like this Opus BT-3100 is the best deal we will get.
I wish there was a way to know if this had all the fixes, but there's really no way to know unless each and every batch was tested. There isn't a chinese vendor I trust enough to do that. Opus really screwed up by not putting some kind of indication on the charger and box like a revision number imo, so now we're left with gambling at least $41. This looks like a good deal for those that were perfectly happy with the version HKJ tested though. They might even get lucky and get one with all the fixes.
This is not a perfect charger, mind you. Even my $90 iCharger does not give accurate IR readings, among other things. Personally I find its shortcomings not a real safety concern as to make me NOT buy this charger, and putting into account the great number of features it offers which are not even available in maybe at least 3 different chargers, with spikes and all, I think I can live with this charger.
Conclusion in HKJ’s test:
Can the charger be used?
I will definetely say yes, the discharge test works fine and charging LiIon in the center slots does also work fine.
NiMH works perfectly in all slots and all modes.
Not a perfect charger, but good enough for me, at least. haha
Agreed. There needs to be a v1.1 or v2 branding, and we need HKJ to test the revised edition. I think Opus should seriously consider this as I'm sure there are lots of people willing to spend $40-50 for a charger that have all that functionality but that functions 100%. I know I would :)
I agree, they dropped the pooch and screwed the ball on this one. Even if its decent, the fact I could have one that is better (corrected flaws) for the same money will just annoy me.
In order to preserve the essence of this thread, may I respectfully suggest to those members who do not intend to join this Group Buy to create another thread where they can discuss their concerns (positive or negative) about this item?
