Can't say for sure for this light, but I've seen 10-15% using the cheap KD voted lenses for P60 lights. If they have one in your size it'll be hugely cheaper than the UCL ones.
Actually I've seen way more than 15% but that was comparing a dirty glass lens of some age with a brand new coated one. I'd reckon you can expect the difference between one Cree bin and the next - 7-10%.
Whether that is worth it to you is another matter.
Has anybody tried this with 4xCR123A? The voltage shouldn't be too high once you get some load on the batteries (but don't blame me if it the driver burns)... CR123As would provide a nice backup and be always usable even if you take the flashlight out of the glovebox after two years of no use and in -30C temperature. And you would have a wall of light available to scare away the wolves ;)
Previously I wanted to fit a single aspheric optics but I was wrong as correctly explained by JohnnyMac now I am thinking that to fit 3 aspheric lens glued on a single 52mm normal lens for better throw mode, thatsy I required the measurement,I don't know what would happen with this Idea.
No problem, my measurements might be out 0.2 mm but close. As for aspherical lens or lens’s I might not understand what you are doing but I feel it would take away what the torch is for.
With out any aspherical lens it will give out a white wall of light and put out good usable throw for a couple hundred meters (well to me any way).
One or more aspherical lens might kill the performance of the spill with not to much more throw it just might turn it into a fire starter lol.
The UCL lense upgrade might be the best bet and cheap I think I’ll do some measurements tomorow and post up the best matching UCL lens if you like as I’m going to buy a couple any way.
i belive the 52.1 mm will not be a problem as there is a little side to side movement in lens with the trustfire host,s and i belive the 1.9mm will not be a problem in the TR-1200 at all but in the TR-3T6 you might have to screw down the alloy bezel spacer down a bit tighter.
i will buy one and try it in both lights and report my finds on fit, i dont have a light meter (will get one) so i go only go one how i feel for out put, but i feel it should be an improvement over the stock glass len's, i will give them a long run time test to see how they hold up.
I have a few of the UCL lens laying around from other various Maglight projects. I did a side by side eyeballing of the lens that's stock on the TR-3T6 and the UCL 52.1mm lens. They were so close in transmittance that I didn't bother replacing it (mostly because I couldn't figure out how to get the lens retaining ring out safely). If I had to guess, I'd say that the transmittance on the stock lens is probably around 95% (the UCL claims 99%).
Let me know if you get drastically different readings on the UCL lens and I'll swap mine out :)
Also, if you're looking for a GOOD/cheap lux meter, this is the one I use from DX...
I don't use it to get "lux" numbers, I use it for a general comparison of all my lights. I mostly do ceiling bounce tests so the exact lux numbers don't matter, just how they compare to each other.
It’s easy to get the retaining ring off the TR-3T6 last time I used digital multi meter probes the stock lens is just glass.
Thanks for the heads up on the light meter I’ve been looking at that one and the on from manafont.
Thanks benckie for giving info on UCL lense, plz give ur views for UCLp AR Acrylic Lens, they have light transmittance of 97%(as advertised), but I think they would deal better if accidentally dropped, what are ur opinion ?
And here's another option. Folks seem to like this light they have bought from this seller. He's the same guy that sells the Hi-Max 18650 2600MAH batteries that everyone is talking about.
That might be a great buy. I checked his feedback and those that have bought from him are pleased.
And I wanted to say in the quote you qoted me above is 2 different sellers. I went back and fixed it so I put the info where it needed to be. But I can't fix yours that you qouted me above. I just wanted to make that clear. Both those sellers I have no doubt are very good. I have bought from both. The Hi-Max batteries are very good batteries.
Have you seen the croco at the end of description? http://www.ebay.com/itm/LUMINUS-SST-50-5MODE-PCB-DRIVER-/220699453480?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item3362b66828
Are they geniune TR-3T6 or just copies, what happened last time ilikeflashlIghts posted eBay links ? + 28 people brought fakes and are still trying to sort it out. Maybe hold off on the eBay links untill you have personally brought, try and tested the light in question and they are proven not to be none genuine (fake) TR-3T6,s if they are genuine Awsome but if they are fakes or another type of 3 x T6 and you are happy with them then make a new thread
