I purchased a EA41 (2015 Edition) from Bang Good at the beginning of 2015.
Unfortunately, it has started to behave strangely. It never puts out any light brighter than the dimmest mode, even the strobe mode is very dim. This started to happen after entering the strobe mode unintentionally and it has acted strange ever since.
Using the turbo-shortcut from power-off has no effect or entering and exiting the sleep mode. I’ve also forced the turbo mode and left it running for longer than three minutes in the hope that it’ll go to the ‘high’ mode.
I’ve tried known-good batteries which have been fully charged and left the batteries out for a while (an hour or so), just in case the MCU needs some time to use any residual charge.
Has anyone experiences any similar issues?
I’m in the UK so what are my options? Should I deal directly with Nitecore or would the seller (Bang Good) be the best company to contact? Does anyone have any experiences with Nitecore warranty support?
It’s quite a shame because it has been a terrific unit so far and an 18 month life is pretty short given it was only used lightly.
Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Try contact nitecore for your problem, I’m sure nitecore is got 2 year warranty on their product. My EC4S got a quality issue and they replace it with a new one
how much shipping fee from your place to china?
nitecore will ask you to send back the light, good thing at my case i only need to pay $7 for registered airmail
Just to give this thread a conclusion, Nitecore sent me a new replacement unit with the original packaging and it arrived just over a week ago and all is well. (They requested that the defective unit be sent without any of its original packaging or accessories.)
Overall, I’m very pleased with the outcome and their handling of the return, especially considering the distance involved.
The turbo output quickly became blue and then switched itself off. It now doesn’t switch back on at well, even with fully-charged batteries. I suspect poor heatsinking as the body wasn’t too warm but it hadn’t been on for a long period.
I’ve contacted Nitecore but there has been no response yet. I wonder if they’ll still honour the 5 year warranty on the replacement.
