EagleTac D25A, twisty vs clicky - which one?

I've been sorta interested in the EagleTac D25's (specifically a D25A Mini), but was wondering about twisty vs. clicky. Does anyone have BOTH the original twisty and the new clicky version? Which one do you like better as far as the switching mechanism goes? ... The only twisty I have is a little ITP A3 eos (aaa) and it works for me in that size, just not sure if I'd like it in a bigger AA size like the D25A. Then again, EagleTac may do it in such a way that's well executed. Yet, I have noticed lots of comments about people looking forward to the new clicky versions.

I assume one of the main draws to the clickies is that you can get them with newer LEDs like the XM-L. And I did notice the original twisty is shorter (80mm vs 87mm) and weighs less (.77oz vs .85oz).

The biggest difference for me is the moonlight mode on the clicky. Being cheaper and shorter are the only reasons I’d get the twisty, the way it is activated secondary to me.

I have the D25LC2 Mini so can’t directly comment. However I can say I like the design of the twisty lights and the UI works fine. That said I personally prefer a clicky.

But a twisty is less likely to get turned on in your pocket, it can still be used one handed and is a robust UI.

The only thing I really don’t like is it starting in L. On the D25A you only have 3 modes, but the D25LC2 has 4, so I have to go L - M1 - M2 - H most times I use it. I’d much prefer if it started in High.

Are you sticking to AA’s or do you plan on using 14500’s? If it’s the latter then personally I’d probably not consider the D series at all as the D25A doesn’t fully support 14500’s.

I have D25c in both the original twisty and the new clicky. I love both lights but the clicky is much more convenient but like chicken drumstick said the clicky is much easier to accidentally turn on while clipped on your pocket. This has happened many times to me. I alternate these two lights back and forth as my edc but the clicky will probably get the call 75% of the time.

i just sent out a PM to all BLF members who contacted me about Eagletac deals in the past. Thanks, best, kreishill

:D

does both the clicky and twist start on low first. theres no memory in these lights? i also like it if itll start on high. i was just actually thinking of buying a d25c too, now ill prolly pass

d25c clicky has mode memory.

selfbuilt review is a must-read before buying d-series lights.
