NIMH Charging in parallel with IMAX B6

IMAX B6
4 Duracell nimh used in series.
1000 mah non precharged AAA

Is it safe to recharge with IMAX in parallel ?
And maybe the rate ?

Thanks

NiMH’s should never be charged in parallel. You can change them in series using the iMax, either charge at 100mA for 16 hours, or charge at 400-500mA for fast charge (but cells must be balanced for this to work well)

NiMH can not be charged im parallel in chargers like this. I am not sure exactly why, but I thought I read somewhere on an RC hobby forum that the peak detection program/firmware is not precise enough at these lower voltages.

Your best bet is to charge them in series with the balance adapter.

Peak detection just doesn’t works when there are multiple cells in parallel, has nothing to do with precision. (due to NiMH’s SOC being unrelated to OCV, unlike Li-Ion’s/LiFePO4’s)

Also, balance adapters are only used for Li chemistries, not NiMH/NiCd. NiMH’s are just charged in series as a pack with 2 leads.
