How to tell which model trustfire 3t6 model I received

Hello Everyone,

I just joined the forum - very informative as I read through the posts b4 purchasing a trustfire 3t6.

One question though… Im not sure if i got a 2x18650 model (with an extension tube) or a real 3x18650 (3a 12v etc)
Is there anyway I can find out that I got a true 3x 18650 model.

I have pulled the torch apart. (it has 7 fins on the torch head, driver has trustfire sticker etc.)

Thank you for your time and assistance & I look forward to knowing more members.

Anybody :~

Is it 3 mode or 5 mode?

5 Mode… (Doesnt both the 2 & 3 cell cycle 5 modes?)

I have both a 3 mode and a 5 mode. The 5 mode is slightly brighter.
The 5 mode is on the left, both lights came from TMart. It just goes to show that the retailers do not have control of what they receive from the wholesalers.
I would imagine that there are countless numbers of people in China that buy parts and assemble these things, not just TF-3t6’s but most of the lights we buy. Probably people are doing this sometimes in their homes, as a “business” opportunity. I would imagine that different people get different parts, so there is no real standards. The larger operations are probably the ones that are known better and as such are able to set a “standard” by the sheer numbers of lights that they assemble.
I would guess that there are far more companies that assemble and a relatively few that manufacture the parts (tubes, reflectors, bezels etc.)

Thanks thats pretty insightful….

My question though is not really about the modes - but whether I received a 3x18650 torch or a 2x18650model + extension tube.

Im concerned as I heard that they handle different voltages 3battery (12v 3amps….and 2 batter model 2.5 a and 9v)…

Any way I can tell?

Will your two cell plus extension accept 3 x 18650’s? That’s the first question. If it will, then its trickier, if it won’t, it’s definitely 3 x 3v cell although I’ve not personally heard of this setup. The other way is screw on the extension, slip in 3 good, matched cells, then, use a decent wire instead of the tail cap and see what happens. Not awfully helpful I know, but an option.

Welcome to the madness, mcfeast!

Just use it as you got it (with the extension tube). If it breaks ask for a refund.
