SST-90 still buy worthy?

Ok, with the recent new flashlights out notably the TR-x100, TR-J18 etc… Is it still buy worthy to get a single xm-l led flashlight like the SST-90 or should I get a 65W xenon flashlight? Looking for throw rather then flood.

I'm not sure what you're asking. If you are asking whether a single SST-90 will throw better than multiple XM-Ls, most likely, especially if it has a well designed reflector.

I’d stick with the 65W HID, it would put the SST-90 to shame.
All depends what you will use the flashlight for of course.

will the ebay ones be ok? considering it’s 99-135.00 for SST-90. And rarer to find cheaper Trustfire X6 versions.

Firstly an XML is different to an SST90, they are both different emitters. Now if you want absolute throw I’d say go for the elektrolumens st90.

IMO I have a hid and I mean they’re bright and all, but they’re not practical unless you take it outside for longer periods of time. A hid takes about 30 secs to reach full brightness, which gets annoying if you only want a burst of light for, say your backyard.

I like the Sst90, as long as you check reviews on the light your thinking of getting. So that you know what your getting. The Trustfire X6 has some decent throw for the die size, where as my ElectroLumens BigBruiser Sst90 is a Wall of light.
Hopefully the light your buying tells you the bin number, that’s pretty important too

Or alternatively if you don’t want spill which will most likely kill your night vision and want to spot things far away go for an aspheric.

Namely a tiablo a9, degree light dbs aspheric or a crelant 7g5v2 with collimator head.

The ST-90 does ok …….
