Does anyone have the expensive Fakes (Sebenza / Strider)

From the pics the Sebenza looks pretty good, its only $60 now, I recall a few months earlier the price was closer to $100?

Can someone pls share first hand info if you have one of these knifes. Please excuse the links, its just for reference Im not supporting any vendor…

Is the quality nice of these knives? Im at the point where Id rather have one 60$ knife than 5 or 6 SRM knives. Then again for 60$ I can get a Cold Steel Recon Scout (edit: recon one folder), or a couple other decent knives from legit makers. And Id never pay $400 for a real CR / Strider. But I like the style and design and looks. Yeah I know its really bad to support fakes…:frowning:

Thanks…

Sebenza - $60

Strider - $60

I am interested too. I would like one of the Warncliff copies if they exist and have real titanium scales.

I think it can be dangerous to by that expensive fake knives.

… “Then again for 60$ I can get a Cold Steel Recon Scout” ————-> aaarrgh!!! Here in Spain on a web shop 179€ = 221$ and not freeshipping, (6€ or more).
I like very much that knife, 60$ is nothing for the cost here.

Why not spend 80 bucks on a Kershaw Leek. That’s a real D2 edge. Maybe a bit smaller, that’s all.

Hi - Sorry for my error, I meant the Recon One folding knife with tri-ad lock, not the Recon Scout. Recon One folder is about $60, and the Recon Scout in my area is 140USD.

Thanks for the link…I was just wondering about the fakes for their design, materials, construction, not so much legitimate knives.

There are several fake Sebenza vids on YouTube I found, one guy had an issue with the blade being almost exposed along the handle when closed…so I think they are not that close to original.

Yes, the recon one here is 102€ = 125$ on the same web. The most expensive knives in the world  And the same with ADSL, diesel/gasoline etc etc…
The EEUU knives always are about double of their prices there.

Well the moral of the story is not to pay too much $$$ for them.

Thats why I made this thread so someone who actually owns one can chime in.

I dont see why China has difficultly to make a 1:1 copy of a knife. Spend $400, buy a knife, disassemble, measure and clone each part.

But they do some crappy job where the blade sticks out…

I wonder if the Strider one is better.

I owned several real Sebenzas and while they are nice knives that are well made, they are simply not worth the $400 you have to pay for them. I have little doubt that a decent knife company in China could make a quality 1-1 Sebenza copy with good materials and 90% of the overall quality for 1/4 the price. A $100 Chinese Sebenza could be a good knife. Think how good a $10 Chinese can be.

They are selling the Boker Plus Automat Kalashnikov for about 150 euros here in Singapore!

It’s sometimes hit and miss. If you want a very good quality copy with excellent cutting on the G10, blade, prints etc….can try this CRKT M21 for just 7.20 shipped (just the flipper is a bit stiff but you can easily fix that).

Hi - Thanks for that link. I looked around and think I may buy this knife…it looks pretty nice actually, close to the same model you pictured and it says its same as OEM…for $10.

That CRKT looks decent. Any bladeplay on it?

Wouldn’t be surprised if these were legitimately OEM, ever since Gerber and CRKT outsourced production.

Up down absolutely no blade play. Left right just extremely minor play of say 1-2mm when you are trying to flex it by holding the tip so that’s literally non-existent actually.

You can flick it out no issue, just not very smooth but it can be fixed with some mineral oil.

No cut tests….but the quality is really good (no scratches, G10 is cut well, blade black anodisation is good).

I have the original M21 and it is also has some side to side blade play.

In all fairness these are very good knives.

I had or still have their real counterparts and was curious to see how the copies fared against the price gouging ones.

I bought each model, seb, strider, hinderer (actually bought 3 sebs).

I have no reason to doubt their claim about the material they use, seems consitant with my experience of knife materials and blade hardness.

Beware though of the 3 fake sebs, 2 of them came with too much tension in the frame lock (easy enough to adjust), and two had plastic washers(dont think they are ptfe) instead of the bronze washers the first had.

What i really hate about these is they sport the marking of the real ones and some people could get scammed (No risks if you know the real thing, some clues are obvious).

I think the Striders are about 440C performance. There was a russian comparing a China Strider vs a Ganzo G704. About the same performance, maybe the Strider is down a little.

And the China’s 440C could really be about 9Cr13mov.

That said, the fixed blades are very tough for the low price that you pay for.

If anyone actually deserved to have their stuff copied/cloned, it would be Mick Strider (Mickey Ray Burger.)

He's a convicted felon who is also guilty of "stolen valor," the ultimate act of disrespect toward those who actually served their country honorably. That's far worse than the armed robbery, IMO.
