Is there any AA (and no 14500 please) lights suitable for rifle mounting? Obviously looking for a narrow thrower but I know it’s going to be pretty limited on AA cells. Can be 2 cells but ideally just single cell due to size. Thanks guys.
What rifle jeansy? Air rifle or rim/centre fire? If its an air rifle, spring or pcp? I ask because you can stick anything on a pcp (no recoil) a spring air rifle is considered worse on scopes than a rim/centre fire due to the piston movement (large mass, big shock). For a rim/centre fire you’ll obviously want more throw than for an air rifle.
What distance do you need it to cover?
Single AA will be limited to around 160 lumen or so at a guess, 2 AA might get up to 300.
I’m not sure, got asked today by a mate and said I’d look into it, pretty sure he has a FAC so may well be rimfire but then he did say only 40 yards or so which indicates air rifle. Not much use, I’ll try and find out…

shiningbeam caveman might suit? 300 lumens from 2x AAs. From memory: 1” body diameter, on/off tailcap switch, mode memory.
I think a vulcan is a Springer, so what ever you get wants to be relatively robust and a tape switch may be an advantage. I’m not sure an AA light would give the light intensity for bunny bashing though.
Could he not run cr123’s?
Didn’t think of 123s to be fair, I tried to persuade him to use Li-Ion but I don’t think he liked the possible dangers/precautions needed, so I’ll suggest the safer 123s tho I think he’ll dismiss them on cost/availability which I can’t argue with lol.
Caveman is prob a good shout, how focused is the beam? I’ve suggested he just try a RC-29 zoomed in for now.
I was thinking 123’s because it then allows solarforce lights which are really orientated towards gun mounting, although with good protected cells and a good charger, I feel the risks are negligible.
I agree but this guy is not into torches, they are just a tool and the cheapest/easiest that will do the job is all he wants. He must be mad 
If he’ll do NIMHs then a 3AA cree might be worthy of consideration.
