I am on the never ending C8 Holy Grail budget search.
Yes, I know about the XinTd and have no doubt that it is a fine example. However I do not hear that is the end-all thrower. I will get one eventually or when/if they go on sale.
So far I have found some amazing things, number one is price does not matter.
Also I have a new respect for a properly driven Q5 when mated with a good reflector and battery.
Here are my results so far with comments and links for each.
Please note my DMM does not have thicker leads yet, so amperage readings are probably a little low, but all lights are tested with same DMM so comparison is legit.
First The XL-M’s
From America dealer;

Good light, not labeled Ultrafire even though shown that way in pictures, Underdriven, 1.3 amps on high, still nice output for $12.95 shipped.
Next are the ones from Citipower via dealer bestsupply888 , very nice finish, clean threads, flawless reflector and glass lens, these are nice lights for the money,2.5 amps average;

Now the Winner of T6’s so far, she is a U2 and I like it! This one is also a deep reflector C8 and pulls 2.8 amps average.

Incredible output and nice tone to the tint, more soft than the regular T6.
I need to order another of these for a backup.
Now the Q5’s
First one is a nice light but under driven

Now the Q5 that has given me a new appreciation of what they can do;

This thing absolutely Rocks!
Yes, it has a small donut around the spot, but Dang that Spot is HOT! Almost as much throw as my Jacob A60.
And at $6.69 shipped, order more than one, but order them one at a time so they don’t get packed together and eat each other up in shipping.
If I was looking for a flashlight to mount on a rifle, this would be it. At 220 meters it is very bright and I am sure it will do more with good results.
So that is my testing so far, YMMV.
Have fun and please list Your experiences with cheap C8’s on this thread.
Later,
Keith
