Thrunite TN31... A curious development.

I received my TN31 today. Esctatic I loaded three of the Trustfire 18650 blue ( cheapie ) batteries into it. Knowing it was coming today I charged them last night. The flashlight wouldn’t work… I was very upset. Then I thought about it. Maybe those batteries won’t work with it. Just for giggles I loaded my Trustfire Flames into it. The light works excellent! Looking atcthe two different batteries… The cheapies are noticeably shorter than the flames. Why would this happen? I hope the Xstars I ordered for it work….

I'm sure the Xtar's will work as they are good quality batteries. Have you checked the voltage of the cheap blues? If that isn't it then I would add a dime or to under each battery as a spacer.

My first thought was the voltage… Dont have a volt meter yet… Then upon further inspection in when I found the size variation. Thank goodness the Xstars will work

I would say cell length is your issue, don kidik had a similar issue with harvested cells. You can use a hook to bend the springs up to suit, or just wait for decent cells to arrive, the trustfire blues might not even give the current you need.

+1

I have used the cheap Trustfire blue 18650 batteries in my Thrunite TN31 that arrived today and they work great so far.
It is much brighter than my Cyclone C88 with King Kong 26650 and my Fenix TK41.

Those cheap Trustfire and Ultrafire batteries have one place and that’s the trash.

Dale,

Any of these will work great.

I tried the blue ones again…. They didnt work. I put the flames back in they didnt work… I slapped the light in my hand & it came on…

You may want to send it back.

Unless you got some fake flames. Try some good batteries.

Xtar are Sanyo Japanese cells and are good batteries.

This is how I solved the problem

Make sure the center + post is screwed in tight

if you slap the side of the flaslight… It goes out… Slap it again & it comes back on…

The light goes completely out.

Read the links I posted, I am almost sure it will solve the problem

Quality control problems from Thrunite from what I’ve read here on BLF

Wanted to get the lights BIN/Offers they featured on ebay just before xmas, but refrained after reading multiple posts on this site… I’d like a light to last MUCH longer than just some beam shots!

and then

Dale, Get a voltage meter ASAP. You really shouldn’t be messing around with lithium batteries without one. Seriously.

Walmart online has a decent digital for like 20 bucks.

quality…. I have beat the crap outta my X6 & Fenix… If a little bit of a wiggle makes the light fail. They will fix it… Or my money will go to a light without such issues.

It could be the batteries.

So far Thrunite has far outnumbered even the generics on quality, reliability and and workmanship issues. This has been going on for a while I wonder why is it so…
